Not always saving when landing on freighters
It's happened a few times to me now where I'll be flying around in space and I land on a freighter (doesn't seem to matter if it's mine or not). When I exit my spacecraft I would expect it to auto save but this does not occur. Inevitably shortly after this point I will fall through the floor of the freighter and splat on the hull as I get caught in the fall-splat loop until death ensues. This last occurred after completing a mission to defend a freighter from pirates, quest marked as complete but no idea how it ends as I died as I described above then reloaded back on the station in another system. *sigh*

I have noticed that if I land and don't see the auto save notification I can immediately take off again and land elsewhere and exit to save. Assuming it is my install, despite not finding anything, I always exit the game and reload.

Playing vanilla NMS, not experimental version and no mods.

From my experience the "not always saving"-part has been in the game since a long time. It happens regularly when landing on a freighter that is not your own ship. (For those rare occasions when the Auto-Save is missing on my own freighter, I quickly build a "Save point" and save my game manually.)
The "falling through the floor"-part of your post never has happened to me on a freighter, though (it had happened rarely on a planet). Losing your progress that way is sad.

Unless it is your freighter, they pop in and out of existence so it would be a bad thing if your game saved when you were on an NPC freighter. Note the annoying way they warp in...they only exist for your temporary use.
