Laptop: Moving when pressing W does not stop when releasing button?
I've seen that only on my laptop but this is not the first time (and happens in several certain games on several laptops we have here). Pressing W makes you move forward. Releasing W - avatar keeps moving forward for a while (correlates with how long W was pushed). Hitting ESC or another direction or TAB does not make it go back to normal (no movement without pressing a button).
This is deadly with a ship when you land on a planet, as you immediately lift off again ("W"!), rinse and repeat until you have completely drained your thrusters. I tried changing the controls for flight forward to another button but it never accepts/activate them, just red overlay of the assignment and ignored ingame.
Anyone a suggestion?

Maybe google "windows sticky keys"
And make sure that's not on, not sure if that would even cause your issue but worth a shot.
Otherwise it's a hardware issue or some software bug or feature with your laptop.
I'd vote hardware issue.

It happens on more than this laptop and in more than this game - and only with the W button (gone if I swap the button to F1 for example). And no, no "sticky keys" on, but it is definitely a movement key issue. The 4 buttons, WASD, can trigger it, they are treated differently by software with some games at least, I think due to a special hotkey feature or such.
