Building structures doesn't remove terrain. 1.57
This update completely broke my base and for some reason no structures will remove any ground when you build them anymore, this makes everything clip badly into the ground anywhere I place it.

I havent had any issue with my base which is halfway underground until this update. The moment I loaded in after the update all the terrain was regenerated except my tunnel I made leading to it, but the regenerating isn't an issue since I know know how to keep it clear, the problem is I can't clear anything anymore with buildings because of this which makes building almost impossible for me at the moment.

Has anyone else had this issue or any idea's on how to fix it, I've tried warping around, reloading on that and other planets, even completely deleting the base, computer and all, but the bugs still there =/

The people I play with and I have been having this happen constantly since the latest update as well and we're playing on PS4.

Have you been able to get it to remove any terrain at all? Like does it work occasionally? I could get it to work once in a while earlier but now no matter what I try it just won't work, super frustrating =/

Yes every once in awhile it will remove it but the other problem that's happening sometimes if you move away from the base and come back it will be filled in with terrain so you can't even move through your base

So I've managed to fix it by switching from borderless to bordered or fullscreen mode and restarting the game. Doesn't seem to matter which one I switch to it seems just changing it and restarting fixes it for some reason.

On the otherhand I think I've found a somewhat small solution to the ground regenerating at my base. I built my whole new base underground with a large tunnel leading to it and I noticed that when the terrain regenerated for the first time yesterday that the tunnel remained all intact except for a few small things I removed with the terrain manipulator. So I rebuilt my base knowing how I did the tunnel and it hasn't regenerated at all since and I don't believe it will just like the tunnel didnt.

The way I did it was basically use the Large Square Room to clear a large square area by placing a bunch of them and using the corridors to put them right next to each other as well as stacking one on top then deleting them all leaving a large empty square to build in.

Making a perfect clear square this way seems to prevent the regenerating for some reason as i've had my old base regenerate over since this has been completed and since doing this my new underground base is totally fine =)

Didn't work for me. Very annoying, as basically this means I can't even continue with building my base. Hopefully this is a bug and NOT a new "feature". I'd hate to be relegated to only building bases on stilts/foundations.

That's super odd that it seems to work fine for me clearing a square and not others, this game is so inconsistent for players =/

Is your save originally from an older version? The save i'm on was started after Next released, and i'm also on single player not multi, so either of those could be the cause.

I saw in the 1.55 patch note it says
"Fixed an issue where terrain edits caused by building parts would regenerate in multiplayer"
and I know when they say they fixed a bug its usually not fixed for most people still so it may be a multiplayer only bug =/

For me it happened in my creative mode save, which was started prior to last patch, so not "old" per-say. My Normal mode save seems to be modifying terrain through building just fine, and a newly started Creative save works fine as well. Perhaps it's something that bugs out on cretain saves prior to this patch for whatever reason.

Hopefully that is the case, as much as it would suck for old saves to be bugged, to know that it does somewhat work better in new saves is good news i guess lol
