Problem with Keyboard controls - Can't hold down keys

So, basically while I'm holding down any key, the game will keep the action of that button happening for about 1 second and then starts a cycle where the key's action stops working and then starts again right after because I'm holding it... and then the same thing again and again, with literally every key. When I'm using my keyboard.

For example:

When I try to enter my starship pressing E... The white bar won't reach the end of the circle, after 1 or 2 seconds it stops and then starts going back and forward, nonstop... It will only reach the end of progression if I rapdly stop pressing the key and then hold it down again before the progression bar goes back to the begging of the circle.

My mouse works just fine, I can play it normally using my Logitech Controller, but can't fix this issue with my keyboard.

I've tried the following already:

- Resinstalling.
- Changing game's language.
- Verifying game files' integrity on Steam.
- Tried using my keyboard on several other games and nothing similar happened, it worked perfectly.

UPDATE 1: Same problem happened while playing Stardew Valley... so the game ain't causing this, it seems...

Which games have you tried it on, there's not a lot that use continuous hold down to make something progress.

At a guess i'd suspect something like:

I tried changing those settings on my Windows 7, didn't work.

I tried playing Enter the Gungeon and The Elder Scrolls V.

But I just tried playing STARDEW VALLEY, and the same problem happened... so maybe these games are getting the keyboard properties from the same place... but the changes suggested by the forum still had no effect. :/

I'm gonna keep trying tho. It seems to be a general keyboard config issue... not the game.

just a thought, you dont have an unusual amount of usb devices do you, or anything like a usb drive in constant use?

I have the same problem but with other games (Apex and Sea of thieves).
May you try with another keyboard, it works for me even the other keyboard is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as ♥♥♥♥...
If someone find a solution please answer, i'd would like to plaay again with a good keyboard

In Windows OS, try to look at your keyboard settings, it should also appear as an icon on the lower right in the menu bar, maybe its' not visible so use the up arrow to make it visible. Here take a look at the various settings and set them to default. This mis-behavior means that you did change it in the past, and NMS obviously doesn't like it.

In NMS, go in the SETTINGS folder and delete the xml file responsible for the key commands. This may also help immediately.

The other possibility is that you are running a key logger program (AHK or similar program that heavily sets the keyboard behavior; btw: such programs are a security risk), you would need to disable it before playing NMS.

And last: scan your computer for viruses, I would not be surprised if it's that one.

I check for viruses, no one there. I set if every things is on default, I never change it and it was like that when I open the setting. Also I do not use any key logger program... it's maybe a problem of my keyboard itself because when i try other keyboard it works perfectly fine.

@Wolfy_Lonewolf I solved the problem a while ago. But I don't really remember what I did. Sorry

All I remeber is that it was related to Sticky Keys/Filter Keys configuration on Windows 7, which is the OS I use.

if you use a Lioncast Keyboard, switch the keyboard setting to [PC Mode] to solve it.

I resolved it buying another new keyboard, I guess the first one was broken.
