(Found A VERIFIED WORK-AROUND) A Leap in the Dark STILL broken though.
I have started a new save with NEXT to experience everything from the start, got to A Leap in the Dark and when I go through the portal and the 16 16 16 part plays out and I am supposed to get teleported to the Atlas, after the screen white out, it crashes the game.

Some players are saying this is due to the event portal and it sharing fuctions with the Leap in the Dark mission. I have tried all their posted tips, about to try doing the weekly event in another system to see if it will then let my Leap in the Dark portal (in my home system) work or the quest to actually send me to Atlas without crashing.

This is really a bummer as it stops me from progressing the storyline completely.
Doing this last work around attempt, and then filing a Zendesk ticket because being stuck in my storyline and game progress makes me a sad traveler. :steamsad:

this maybe a weird idea, but have you tried going to esc, netowrk settings and turning off your network play, ???to what you are saying about sharing funcations, ok network maybe not be related or it is, i dont know i am just guessing plus i was able to get passed it ok
Read carefully. What I meant by "sharing" is the two missions share the same portal. Nothing to do with MP. I have tried many things including the irrelevant turning off networking. Nothing stops the game from crashing after the 16 16 16 event. You simply CTD instead of being transported to Atlas. Hope this helps clarify what I am reporting.

You have already tried all the shader-cache-deleting dance, also in your savegame's 'cache' folder? With this, there is always some chance to fix it when game crashes.

Will again just for kicks but yes, I cleared my caches. This issue has been a known one since Atlas Rises and seems to have rebroke with NEXT and the community events that use a portal, often it's the same portal for the Leap in the Dark mission. Therein seems to lie the trouble.

In fact while having the Leap mission active and trying to "activate the portal" note it activates itself for the quest without actual glyph address input, BUT it has actually sent me to the weekly mission planet. It's a conflict and that conflict crashes the game.

Hope this makes sense.

In before "Do you have any mods installed?" (No I don't, it does the same things with and without mods installed but I have them out for now just because.)

So...I have submitted a Zendesk request/ticket with my save files, however it doesn't confirm receipt and I don't have an email confirming it either. Hoping this is received as I really cannot continue the mission line with this bug. Very sad traveler.

I usually get responses (automated) within 2 days. But I'm sure they are classifying important stuff...
I did it too long ago, so my memory fails for 16...mission, but if you would repeat it, you get the same portal? There can be more portals in a system, and if you go through a black hole you should be able to reset the mission in the log IIRC.

Did that too XD I have gotten it to change portals, yet it still crashes out at the white screen part of the mission, before you are supposed to be whisked to Atlas. Basically I tested and fiddled with it for several days, always getting the same result. This one needs added to the fix list, and probably priority as it blocks all progression of the Artemis storyline.

Thanks for the reminder on the auto responder, couldn't remember how fast it replies. I will wait~

Hi Captain Intrepid,
I think you should read here, there's a mentioned workaround in the forelast page. I hope it works for you.

Hi again,
I forgot to update this, or well I did parially above in my last post.

I did go to a different system and did the event, and got it to select a different portal than the one I used for the community event, however it still goes from the 16 16 16 white screen to crashing every time. (Tried it dozens of times so far.) I can try it a few more times I guess, but not sure that doing it after the first few attempts over many days will change the outcome. I did read the thread you linked and thus got the idea to go to two different systems and seperate the missions and portals, but to no avail so far. I have even tried it again after the last few updates.

My only question is how the OP of that thread got his Leap in the Dark portal sequence to work properly. Again, all stuffs updated, file integrity checked, caches cleared and no mods used.
I don't even lag during zone in at community event portals, so no potato rig issues there. I am at a complete loss of how to "force" it to do it's proper sequence. (And I am a Technical Specialist by trade.)

I guess I try a few more times and wait for a response on my ticket. I would think that a mission breaker/game stopper and a long time issue like that one...would have a fix patch soon.

Anywho, thanks for attempting to trouble-shoot it (several times.) Even though it's not working, it's still appreciated. :) I hope to get a Zendesk response soon. After playing almost 900 hours, it feels like one of my favorite toys is irreparably broken. ; ; Hanging in there~
Oops one more bit of information, that I also posted in a query in the thread you linked: Also I noticed that on my Leap in the Dark mission, the glyph sub missions are checked off (all three sections) but the end tick box for activating the portal is NOT ticked. I get the active portal by randomly entering glyphs as per Wiki guide yet the misson sub quest doesn't get fulfilled. Any ideas there?

One other thought I had about things to try, do you think going through a black hole will somehow trigger or reset the Leap mission? I have not tried that yet. Will have to try it in the morning. I do remember black holes at one time had a quest location retarget or reset option if you were too far away from the initial target. Will def try it tomorrow just to rule that
work-around out.

Yes absolutely, as I mentioned above already, try this, AFAIK all missions get reset and their waypoints shuffled again when you go through a BH. In the Log you will be asked to reset the mission with some red entries in the description.

Reference:
In early versions of Atlas Rises there was no such options to reset a mission, so when you did the storyline and went through a black hole, the storyline got broke. This has been corrected later and should still apply. I have seen such a reset option for a normal mission in the Log in 1.57 and made use of it (it was a simple delivery mission only, not a storyline mission.)
But for Storyline missions currently, their locations are placed on the top of your teleporter, so maybe because of that you cannot reset the mission (because the game assumes you are teleporting there), and thus not solving your specific situation :(
Try it anyway to see if you get the reset option.

LOL...I just did the black hole quest reset and lo and behold I now have the parts past the white screen and story progression! Seems that those dangerous tech breaking black holes have secondary purpose past travel roulette :P I am now at the location of you know who and the mission is now unstuck. Seems the only work around to the white screen then CTD is to jump through a black hole with the mission active. It's like a good ol' galactic flush! XD

Yep, black holes can fix bugs, I shall consider to suggest this more often :)
