I did not find a fix, I restarted basically. I had a save from 2016 which I carried on from. Glad that worked for you but it didn't for me unfortunately.
Generally if a mission doesn't start - or you don't know what to do, make sure the mission is active in your log. The real description is not in the log but appears onscreen on the lower right after activating the mission and leaving the log menu, this may take some seconds to appear because the game guide shows other things too.
Nah my mission has already started, but it hasn't "ticked off the bullet points" as it were. E.g. it is telling me to speak to Nada when I have already exhausted his and Polo's dialogue. In the description in the lower right corner it says "Speak to lifeforms on the Anomaly" or something along those lines when I have already talked to everyone. I have tried scanning in space and checking the message comms but to no avail.
I have started afresh and gotten past this now as I found no solution, but I appreciate you trying to help :)
I never had this problem, when the dialogues with Polo/Nada are exhausted you leave Nexus, you change the mission in the log (from Space Anomaly to Alone admidst....) and you go on according to instructions...IIRC there alre always red waypoints to follow. Sounds simple? It is.
Unfortunately mine was just stuck XD like I said though I've got past it on a separate save now so no biggie, just a bit of an annoyance.
Edit: 12 hours later the quest just decided to work. I had exited the game, came back in and did two other quests, then gave this on a try. I guess the trick is to leave it alone for a bit and cross your fingers. I was away from the game long enough for the 2nd triangulation point, the observatory, to re-set so I could use it again. Not sure if that's part of the reason it worked or not. They really need to add a "re-set last step" option if they're not going to fix all the broken quests. I'm also tired of the base computer deciding that I need to go to my third base, or my first base, randomly, especially when it picks one that isn't close. Luckily teleporters help with that.
