White screen on startup
Hi! Been super excited to play the new update, but I've been encountering a really annoying error as of late. When I start the game, it shows a white screen for about five seconds before crashing.

My computer specs are:
Win10 64bit
AMD 3300 CPU
Radeon rx 6600
16gb ram

There should be a crash dump file
If you can upload your crash dunp file into a cloud, with permission to download it, I´ll look into it
it should be in :
Type this into the address bar: %localappdata%\Temp

and looks like :
NMS_crash_xxxxxxxxxx_NMSVersion_0xCrashcode_SteamID.dmp

Based on your dump , an outdated OBS Version is installed
Uninstall it, reboot your PC and make sure that folder is gone :
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio-hook

It's gone, but the game is still crashing :(

ok..
Could you post the content of your TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML (just open it with notepad and copy&paste it)
That file is in \steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\Settings

I have the same issue and none of the suggested fixes in this forum have worked. Hoping it's sorted out with a patch soon.

It does not detect your CPU :
<Property name="NumHighThreads" value="1" />
<Property name="NumLowThreads" value="1" />

because your dump did not show your GPU Driver Version , you may update it :
https://www.amd.com/en/support

If it again crashes ... I would have a look into your new dump

In my case iit was caused by frame generation - once I switched it off - crashing stopped.

That GPU does not support Framegen

Updated my drivers & it worked!!
Thank you and have a wonderful day!! :^)
dysamoria Jul 19, 2024 @ 11:28am
Driver update changed nothing for me.

Looking through the crash dump seems like potentially a problem with the Steam overlay? Unless the crash is just a symptom of something else going wrong.
