Low FPS - Low Hardware Usage
Soo here we go again. A new update and the game is not running again!
Im hovering around 50 fps with only 40% gpu usage and 20% cpu usage.

Please fix your game!
After one update i got my locked 84 fps - the next update it runs bad.
Its been an up and down rollercoaster since years now!

EDIT: Seems like the game CPU-Bottlenecks itself while using only 1-2 cores. I got 6 cores 12 threads. Use them! (Config was set on 8/8 and i changed it accordingly - did nothing, new vulkan api also didnt change anything)

Update: Issue solved! Follow these steps :-)

Or in short: My issue got solved by activating ingame vsync (for some strange reason).

Check FPS limits, in Nvidia Control Panel, in Nvidia App, in game, anywhere and try DLSS or FSR, just give it a try.

If FSR or DLSS will not raise the FPS, there is a FPS limit active... seems to be bugged, please check other threads regarding performance issues and frame drops (= constantly low FPS).

I got no driver related fps limit. Every Upscaler tried - no changes.
System runs on high performance mode.
All other games run fine.

Same boat. love seeing my hardware being well under utilized as my frames are sitting in the 30s

I did see multiple posts with the AMD Ryzen 5600 and Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti or similar.
Any chance you running the same specs? I have a bad feeling its ryzen related somehow. Just cant get the game to use my cpu properly...

try deactivate Low Latency Mode for NMS in Geforce Menu

Same here. 13700, RTX3070 - sometimes it's below 30 fps with low gpu and cpu usage

Didn't help at all

Hm. FPS drastically increased with reducing planets quality setting to minimal

Interesting ... i got everything on high/ultra and no matter if borderless or fullscreen if i switch vsync off i got much less fps ... flick it back on and fps double (with increased hardware usage).

Man this game is soo bricked XD

:steamthis: I've read a post with the same problem as mine: :steamthis:
- 50% GPU Usage
- 20% CPU Usage
- 16-75fps maximum
- Frame Generation is stuttering and lagging + DLSS doesn't made a huge defference at FPS

On my rig (i5-12400, RTX 4070ti) - I've starting notice there is something go wrong.
I tried to search Youtube with that problem - no one have it + everyone is trying to solve a problem from nothing + at my setup everyone who have it are playing without issues.

An author of this post has made for me a good thoughts 'bout "FPS Limit" and...
Oh boy, I need to say this how I've tried to handling with configs to change threads numbers (doesn't help) and tried to use lossless scaling for test (doesn't help)...

BUT! But when I unlocked FPS Limit from Nvidia Control Panel (was stocked at my monitor 170Hz) and turned this off - IT WORKS!
Now a have 100+ FPS (no bull).

Thanks to You for good advice - now I can to enjoy this game without issues and troubleshooting searchin'. I wish for You and closest people good holidays, many thanks!

Thats very interesting. Someone already said enabling ingame vsync did not solve the issue for him but for me ... i can switch it backl and forth and the fps are night and day XD.

Soo you did not touch the vsync and just the fps limit in the drivers?
I personaly lock my fps globaly through riva tuner (msi afterburner overlay) and never had issues with that. It also seems to work well with nms and didnt change anything when i disabled it.

Very interesting that everyone despite having similar hardware has such a different experience when it comes to performance and solving this issue.

:steamsad: Nah, Vsync Activation is not a game changer 'cause I've tested game after unlocking FPS with Frame Generation and without (DLSS FG is graying Vsync option and uncompatible with that).

I've noticed that DLSS FG isn't compatible with FPS limiting 'cause limits are bottlenecking DLSS FG. Vsync is automatically turning off when You use DLSS FG.
But what I still keeping in Nvidia Control Panel is Fast-Sync (I've turned off Adaptive-Sync on my monitor 'cause of stobing picture in shadows and dark scenes).

So, if your FPS has been locked via Riva Tuner or NCP globally - unlock it.
For me - that has help and I repeat that I have Hi-Rig and now I can play at Ultra. :steamhappy:

I have random fps drops going from the 80 to 100 fps to 30 fps I have a AMD Ryzen 5700 and 3060 with 32gb ram. I have tried the fixes above and still happens at random times can be in the same place with more going on and get over 100 fps and then no reason just goes down to 30 and sometimes after a bit of time it will go back to normal but can also stay like that even if I go to a place that has nothing going on it it.

I've noticed this drops after several hours of playing game and I've noticed only one fix for this ('cause with unlocking FPS - it still working fix, but that's not fixing every aspects).
But I fixed it and have now critical FPS drops.

If You have your settings on Ultra - change the specs right to the next settings:
- Texture Quality (High-Ultra (Check how much of VRAM You have and with what Resolution Screen are You playing))
- Animation Quality (Enhanced (it will makes no visual differences, but will lower your CPU usage))
- Shadow Quality (Enhanced (no need to setting them higher))
- Post-Processing (High)
- Reflections (High)
- Volumetric Effects (Enhanced)
- Terrain Tessellation (High)
- Planet Quality (High)
- Water Quality (High)
- Base Complexity (High)
- GTAO (Enhanced)

This settings will make no huge visual difference, but they may lower your CPU and GPU usage. Don't forget to unlock your FPS, if you locked them in Riva Tuner or Nvidia Control Panel (or somewhere else).
