Version mismatch on Steam between Mac and PC

My friend and I are trying to play together. I'm on PC; he's on Mac. According to Steam, we have the same game build, updated to the latest patch on March 29. However, in game the number in the lower right corner of the screen is different. We get a version mismatch error when we try to join each other's game. Is there a version mismatch between the PC and Mac versions of the game on Steam? And when will this be remedied?

There is usually few days difference between PC and console patch releases, I guess macOS is no different. Only the devs know when an update will come out. This is not publicly available information.

According to SteamDB the most recent change to the MacOS build was an update to the experimental branch on the 29th of March. The last public update was the day before that.

The fact that tomorrow is a Bank Holiday may also have some bearing on the matter, so...

...my guess would be Tuesday at the earliest. You'll be in good company at least; Xbox enthusiasts are still champing at the bit for those bump-mapped sugar cubes stations!
