No Man's Sky runs good on the Apple M2 Pro, BUT
Hello guys. I am very happy to be able to play NMS on my Mac Mini M2 Pro, which i have fallen in love with. No Man's Sky runs beautifully on the new Apple Silicon Chips, however:

Even though my Settings are set on High - sometimes i try Ultra - the textures are in very low resolution. Does anybody else have this problem? or is there a workaround for that matter?

Greetings!

How bad is it? NMS textures don't look hot on a PC either :/ It's an old game. And they look now even worse since the Omega update. Lots of smearing, blurriness and outright broken textures.

Hey Zak

It is very very bad. Its Pixels all over.
And just now i tried to play around with changing the Quality of the textures, but everytime i chose and applied a setting, the game crashed. Maybe i have some corrupted files...

Me again. Just found out that if i change the graphics quality, no matter what i do, there is no effect. Why could that be?

Then I don't know. This seems like something specific to the Mac versions and I don't use Macs much any more, so I'm not up to date with that.

What's your TextureStreamingVk set to in TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML ?

For me, if I set that to "On", textures basically never finish loading to their full resolution.

For me, the default value is "Auto", which seems to auto itself to "Off". Because "On" really sucks, and seems to line up with what you're describing.

Maybe try setting that to "Off" ?

May as well post the contents of that file, too.

Texture quality is clearly bugged in recent releases. I'm also playing on an M2 Pro, and could easily play on ultra settings with crisp textures and MetalFX set to quality mode.

Now, only low-res textures will load — it's extremely noticeable with base decals and characters (wildlife included). It's a blurry mess.
