Intel users can't play NMS?
I was reading the current thread on the NMS landing page explaining the problem with the game currently. I noticed that they said "We have been working to get back to people on our three most common crashes on start up:
• Running the game with an Intel card. This is not supported
• No Man's Sky is an OpenGL 4.5 game, and requires latest drivers on most cards, please update
• VC++ Redist 2010 was not included by default. We have updated in a patch, please restart" well.. I am a intel user , does this mean that I wont be able to play at all forever? OR are they they trying to fix this issue for Intel users? anyone want to clairify this for me .. pls.. :steamhappy:

They mean Intel Integrated graphics. You can't expect to run any newer graphically demanding games with an integrated GPU, No Man's Sky is no exception.
Kruhl Aug 12, 2016 @ 6:28pm
I believe they are referring to those who use a PC with integrated Intel graphics instead of systems that have a dedicated card, like nVidia or AMD. I think that too many scare-mongers are posting all over about Intel users = No NMS which is blatently false considering Intel has a larger share of the CPU market. See here as just one of countless examples: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/market_share.html

I hope this puts your mind at ease some :)

I play Overwatch and Grand Theft Auto 5 just fine. I know intergrated GPU isnt the best for gaming but im still capable of running newer games with the potato i have.

@Kruhl yea actully it does, thank you! I'm hoping that they recongnize this and give support to us intel users.

this is total bs. seen the hd 4000 and hd 5000 gpu run the current games and the new iris gpu in the new skylake cpu actually preform quite well and in some cases come close to dedicated gpus. after all the new iris gpu on the skylakes do support 4k res natively.

but if you take a look at the gpu specs on intels website. the hd 4000 on up gpus actually meets or exceeds the spec required for nms and has support for open gl 4.5 so it not the lack of open gl support some are pointing too. there is something else there that isn't being told.

and some friends I have actually have the game running on laptops running amd integrated gpus. which typically have poorer performance compared to intel gpus.

makes me kinda surprised intel cpus are even supported at all.

game is definitely more optimized for amd machines as the ps4 is amd cpu and gpu.

It appears they're trying to fix the CPU issues, but it sounds like the "no intel GPU's" is a flat no. I don't think they'll be changing that, you're better off refunding now, and if they *do* add support later you can buy it again.

Support 4k and run 4k are two different things. A 960 gtx supports 4k but can't run games in 4k without major lag.

Integrated cpu graphics are not made for gaming..

Yep, the HD4000 sure is better than the GTX 480...

...and it just blows the AMD 7870 out of the water!

/end sarcasm

I think what isn't being told is that Integrated GPU's are not meant to play games like NMS.

I understand that there is a major difference between IGPs and actual GPUs, and am a total newb when it comes to stuff like this, but I found a part of a totally different thread about running Fallout 3 goty that got me thinking. In step 7 there is a fix, as there are some compatibility issues with newer Windows releases (if later than Vista can be considered newer), that tricks the program into thinking that it is not using an Intel chip. If supposedly some Intel graphics chips may actually be able to run NMS, would something like this be a possible workaround?

Seriously people using igpu to play GTA V? What setting? Extreme low graphic with empty traffic running in 15fps?

Playing games at lowest settings at 15 fps is worse than not playing them.

Intergrated GPU are fine, for Office and looking Movies, if you want to play Beautiful Games you need a good DEDICATED Graphicscard. And Intel was never really good at GPU's...
