@lurtzimus:

What? AMD Phenom 2 not old? Hahahaha, that´s a good one. That type of cpu is older than the one OLD cpu i just made my new Rig of xD AMD Phenom 2 is from 2010. That is now six yeras old.

However the age alone is not the problem, technically speaking that cpu is m uch older than 2010, more like 2006, since it`s just using better AMD K10-cores, isn`t it? You have to know, that Core i3/Core i5/Core i7 got FASTER because they supported so many new instructions, which more and more programs used. Because Intel actually renewed those cores.

While AMD Phenom 2 is just a bit faster AMD Phenom 1 (which was buggy, known for it`s erratas).

The very FIRST type of CPU to support SSE 4.1 was the Core 2 Quad from late 2008!

And guess what? These cpus costs ~300 dollars by standard those days. I payed 250 dollars for my Q9550 cpu. See? And even that 2008-cpu has SSE 4.1

Accept it. AMD is just using older stuff. Your cpu is much worse than that Q9550- technically.

And THIS was the point why the AMD Phenom 2 was so cheap as it was in 2010. Because it has no SSE 4.1 or newer Floating-point-support-instructions.

See? And THAT is the real problem lol. Not the age of that cpu alone: it´s the fact your cpu is technically supporting much less instructions then the Intel one which is even older than yours.

And while Intel just has AVX 2 in their newest CPUs implemented (allowing 512-bit-SIMD, that means 2x AVX-instructions with one cycles or even 4x 128 bit with one cycle, or EIGHT (!) x 64 bit-SIMD), AMD just has gotten AVX 1 (256 Bit SIMD).

See? That`s the problem. AMD is just late to the party. As allways...

And you should be GLAD that games doesn´t make use of AVX 1/2 yet, otherwise you would get to play nothing with that old AMD Phenom 2 from 2010 lol....

And the best you can say about that story is "You get what you pay for".
They are working on a fix as we type. Hope it's not too long.
so is now a bad time to say i've clocked a goos few hours into this game on my Phenom 2 x6 1055t?

ofcause i am using the SEE4.1 emy so maybe i dont count.

it does judder for about the first 15-20 mins of play but then smooths out with the odd stutter as new areas load up.

my starting world is a heavy bioluminesant (sorry bout spelling) horror of a world, all blue glows and green hues with silver/blue grass. very lovely but still holding at round 40 -50 fps for me with the odd drop as low as 20s at times.

i'm not a FPS snob and tend to play games at a more sedate pace but i find using the emy is working for me quite well :D

maybe it will work for other Phenom users too?
I have the same amd phenom II x4 965 quad core at 3.4 and I also crash as soon as the game loads up. I am being trolled by Hello Games as it says Hello Games then windows crash. Rip me. I sure hope those of us that are not actually able to play the game till Hello Games fixes its issues will not be stuck with coming across all the named animals etc everyone else has had the luck to name as we trail behind them. We have lost out on the first 2 days and counting. If this is not resolved soon I may be requesting my $157 dollars back kind of pointless having a game I can not even play with a decent game rig. While they say they are working on a fix and say well your rig techinically does not meet req even though it runs at 3.4 and can play any other game to date released well except for No Man Sky. My :steamsalty: level is increasing as I watch others playing the game I and so many others have been looking forward to for 2 + years. I hope we did not just end up supporting and paying for a lump of :2015coal: and have to wait till it turns into a diamond. Sage o7 :steamsad: I for one will not be buying a new computer just to play 1 game title. It is a shame that the development team at NMS did not consider how many gamers use AMD. Maybe they should have changed the marketing to Buy our game NMS and a new game rig and make it Intel or suck it AMD community.

i'm playing it with a phenom, using the SSE4.1 emulation work around for now till they release the patch being worked on.

bit laggy and have to run on medium gfx as its being emulated, but am loving the game so far :steamhappy:
They're working on this issue right now apparently. Just look at Sean Murray's twitter and it's the newest tweet. Chances are we'll have a patch soon for phenoms and other AMD cpus that don't support 4.1 SSE
Messaggio originale di jfoytek:
Any CPU that is not capable of SSE 4.1 Instruction set will not work which is basically any old Intel processor made around 2008 and before.... And a huge Chunk of AMD CPU's even some brand new ones!

SSE 4.1 is a standard in Intel CPU's they created in 2006 and put into effect in 2008... AMD has been way behind the curve at addapting to this as its basically an instuction set and most developers will simply put in the game instructions at a lower level to avoid these issues!

NMS hasn't done this likely because there a relatively Green group of developers and right now instead of saying Oh we see what we have done they are instead updating there Minimum Spec's and pointing to the Minimum Spec's instead of doing to work to fix the issue!

The last part here is specifically why I'm feeling like this might not even be addressed, but at the same time the lost sales and negative reviews are a big incentive for them to add at least some AMD support.

The minimum spec's certainly said i3 processors, but made no mention of 4.1 being the specific subpoint on why. Thus most veteran gamers were looking at how fast their processor was and in what cluster type and were burned by this little known and completely unmentioned requirement.

Supposedly it's being looked at but considering other development houses have managed to push out similiar fixes in no time at all, and this is now day 2, I don't know what to think.

I'm sorry..what ? O.o The instrusctions don't mention any of this..so now I'm more confused.
Then ya looked into a strange Guide

If you have the License issue just put an Txt File Named "steam_appid" into the Binaries Folder next to the Emulator :D and Write inside "275850"

Then it stop Asking for License
See, when I try to open the steam_appid it doesn't really open, it's encrypted and I can't read ♥♥♥♥, is there a special program? Also this seems illegal, is this illegal?
I'm able to play using the emulator from this thread:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/1/360672137535529618/

Phenom II 1090T
GTX 780
OpenGL 4.4
I just got a refund and put that money towards a new i7 6700k. Star Citizen will be awesome now! :x
maybe because the specs on the game in the store are incorrect because I have well above the specs and it still plays terribly IN THE LOWEST SETTINGS POSSIBLE
Have a Phenom II x2 555BE unlocked, so the system sees it as a X4. Played the game for around 15hrs, in the 'Experimental' version. Since those 3 patches, started playing and after 10mins it crashes and now I'm back at Logo screen crash. Their support don't reply to my crash reports, neither offer a solution. So 'AMD Phenom Support ' in Patch 1 just screwed my game.

Every Phenom is crashing at Hello Games logo

Liar...

Phenom X4 945 3GHz
R9 290X
8 GB Ram

Runs slow during on planet flight (stutters)
An occasional FPS drops or stutters during walk on Planet.

But works! Why? Because I read the forum and used some tweaks. Currently I am only using a "priority setting" trick and I play border less windowed without G-Sync but with V-Sync.

Back on the date Yevon posted that it was true, none of us could play, Since the patches the game has been fixed and now works fine,

Oh and theres something wrong with your system if you see stutters etc.. i have the same cpu as you do and can play with everything on max settings with no problems at all.
