What? AMD Phenom 2 not old? Hahahaha, that´s a good one. That type of cpu is older than the one OLD cpu i just made my new Rig of xD AMD Phenom 2 is from 2010. That is now six yeras old.
However the age alone is not the problem, technically speaking that cpu is m uch older than 2010, more like 2006, since it`s just using better AMD K10-cores, isn`t it? You have to know, that Core i3/Core i5/Core i7 got FASTER because they supported so many new instructions, which more and more programs used. Because Intel actually renewed those cores.
While AMD Phenom 2 is just a bit faster AMD Phenom 1 (which was buggy, known for it`s erratas).
The very FIRST type of CPU to support SSE 4.1 was the Core 2 Quad from late 2008!
And guess what? These cpus costs ~300 dollars by standard those days. I payed 250 dollars for my Q9550 cpu. See? And even that 2008-cpu has SSE 4.1
Accept it. AMD is just using older stuff. Your cpu is much worse than that Q9550- technically.
And THIS was the point why the AMD Phenom 2 was so cheap as it was in 2010. Because it has no SSE 4.1 or newer Floating-point-support-instructions.
See? And THAT is the real problem lol. Not the age of that cpu alone: it´s the fact your cpu is technically supporting much less instructions then the Intel one which is even older than yours.
And while Intel just has AVX 2 in their newest CPUs implemented (allowing 512-bit-SIMD, that means 2x AVX-instructions with one cycles or even 4x 128 bit with one cycle, or EIGHT (!) x 64 bit-SIMD), AMD just has gotten AVX 1 (256 Bit SIMD).
See? That`s the problem. AMD is just late to the party. As allways...
And you should be GLAD that games doesn´t make use of AVX 1/2 yet, otherwise you would get to play nothing with that old AMD Phenom 2 from 2010 lol....
And the best you can say about that story is "You get what you pay for".
ofcause i am using the SEE4.1 emy so maybe i dont count.
it does judder for about the first 15-20 mins of play but then smooths out with the odd stutter as new areas load up.
my starting world is a heavy bioluminesant (sorry bout spelling) horror of a world, all blue glows and green hues with silver/blue grass. very lovely but still holding at round 40 -50 fps for me with the odd drop as low as 20s at times.
i'm not a FPS snob and tend to play games at a more sedate pace but i find using the emy is working for me quite well :D
maybe it will work for other Phenom users too?
bit laggy and have to run on medium gfx as its being emulated, but am loving the game so far
The last part here is specifically why I'm feeling like this might not even be addressed, but at the same time the lost sales and negative reviews are a big incentive for them to add at least some AMD support.
The minimum spec's certainly said i3 processors, but made no mention of 4.1 being the specific subpoint on why. Thus most veteran gamers were looking at how fast their processor was and in what cluster type and were burned by this little known and completely unmentioned requirement.
Supposedly it's being looked at but considering other development houses have managed to push out similiar fixes in no time at all, and this is now day 2, I don't know what to think.

Runs slow during on planet flight (stutters)
An occasional FPS drops or stutters during walk on Planet.
But works! Why? Because I read the forum and used some tweaks. Currently I am only using a "priority setting" trick and I play border less windowed without G-Sync but with V-Sync.
Back on the date Yevon posted that it was true, none of us could play, Since the patches the game has been fixed and now works fine,
Oh and theres something wrong with your system if you see stutters etc.. i have the same cpu as you do and can play with everything on max settings with no problems at all.
