Says for an x52 but this will work with any joystick, I just happen to have the x52.
I'm not too surprised for any response from them about anything regarding PC at this point. There is literally 'nothing' they can say that will not turn into a ♥♥♥♥-flinging fest.
I use the x360ce emulator with my logitech 3d extreme pro joystick, and I also use mouse and keyboard, all together. My right hand just reaches right to the mouse, left to the stick, when I hop out and in my ship. Works well, and I can walk around with ease (mouse+kb), and fly too (joystick+kb).
Just kind of wish the ships had latteral thrust and 'stop' lol.
Use Joy for ship, Keyb for planet/surface.
This is actually how quite a few hybrid flight/gound titles run it as well
Can't be done In VR. Need devs to add it..... Or controller support. *sigh*
You can do it on Non VR with UCR:

A lot of games transition really well from KBM to Joystick. Even flight games like Elite Dangerous will entirely switch which control mode is being used the moment you move your mouse slightly. It's not undoable, and it's not like nobody has a keyboard and mouse on standby.
