Did you try to launch NMS.exe from \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries ? May give an error message
Fix 0xc00007b error "the application was unable to start correctly"
Got it! Apparently, if you uninstall ALL of the redistributables and restart your computer, then reinstall them, it works? That's how I finally got it to work after two days of having no idea what to do. https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/ This package right here is what helped me get it up and running again, as well as redownloading two .dlls that were giving me issues: mscvp120.dll and mscvr120.dll

Good luck to those who have this problem in the future. It's *tough*

It's an issue with how S1 works and how their anti-cheater/modder works. S1 injects a dll into exe's to make sure there's nothing malicious going on, and NMS (and some other games) looks to see if any dlls are being injected, then if there are, it kills the exe.
same thing the game won't start at all
If so, the admin needs to whitelist NMS.exe - it is seen as a threat because it tries to open ports for dynamic multiplayer.
