FPS Breaks When Alt-Tabbing

I have played this for years on and off, and I hadn't had this issue before.

When I alt tab, and come back to the game, fps drops to 5-10. Issue goes away and fps returns to normal if I change game to Window mode, only real fix is a restart.

Anyone have any clue as to how to fix this? It's not incredibly game breaking but it's annoying not being able to alt tab when I need to less I want to restart the entire game.

Yes, this is the way it works now. You can put in a bug report via zendesk. I just use my cell phone instead of alt-tabbing out. If it is something specific to PC, just close down the game and take care of business.

Seems to be the case under any Proton version I try :(
Sometimes when I alt-tab back the performance partially comes back but its still unplayable :|

Whenever I do an Alt+Tab by mistake (I'm too used to doing it) it's basically a death sentance, I have to close the game and it's such a party pooper that I often just don't start the game back again.

I'm really hoping this gets fixed someday soon. It's so annoying tabbing out, whether intentionally or something else forcing me back to desktop, and being forced to endure significantly lower FPS until I close out the game entirely and open it back up again, which is a good several minutes of loading screens to sit through all over again.

Still having this issue, though I found that setting the game to Windowed and then back to Borderless/Fullscreen fixes it.

Nice, a good workaround for a long standing issue for some of us.

It kinda works, but you'll still get less FPS than you have when you start up the game.

If I tab out of the game to check something on discord or other stuff and tab back into the game it only runs at 5-10 FPS. Only game restart fixes my FPS.
