Can't download update

Definitely more of a steam issue, but google isn't being helpful and the only other update (one of those steam redistributables) completed fine. When I restart Steam, there's sometimes a faint glimmer of hope as it starts downloading, but nope, it was just shader precaching that succeeded, and the actual download fails.
So, the deal is a disk write error. It's not my drive, that's only some 10 months old and the SMART data looks normal. It's probably not my permissions, because it's been working fine for months, and permissions issues would appear immediately on first download, not spontaneously on an update. Cleared my download cache, didn't work. Mount point's the same as ever, if it wasn't it wouldn't realise I even had the game installed, plus I thought it was a timeshare thing because the mount point looked weird in gparted but it wasn't, I remounted it, still not downloading. It's not a lack of space, I gave about 600GB to my games partition and less than 100GB is currently used. Don't have antivirus. What's the deal here? Maybe if I come back tomorrow it'll be fixed, but this is weird

I'm actually having the same problem. For some reason, the game has updated to 99%, but it fails immediately afterwards. Specifically, it says "Content Unavailable." I am unsure if this is a Steam issue or not, but every other game that has downloaded an update today has not given me this issue. Was there some kind of rollback on the update?

Glad to say I think I found a solution. You need to go into Steam's Settings > Downloads, then select Clear Download Cache. You'll have to re-launch and re-login to Steam afterward, but it should properly download afterwards. Hope this helps OP and anyone else who might have the same issue.

An update: I was waiting for a new patch to see if that would fix it, but I noticed the last patch was 2 days ago so evidently it did not. Tried reinstalling, and it won't install either. So now I have no game files. Pog. I still don't think it's a hardware thing because I installed a different ~30GB game fine. The next step I think is to reinstall steam itself, which I really can't be bothered to do.

Never mind, turned off steam, went into steam library folder, manually deleted everything related to 275850 and now it's installing ?????????? ok, fixed I guess, file corruption moment

I don't want to delete everything with the game ... It's not downloading for me ... Maybe a complaint to steam?

Same issue. I uninstalled and re-installed to get the fishing update working. Now it's back to the same issue with today's update.

Don't download update, after it the game not started!
