take a look at the Windows Event Viewer - that may give hints why the computer restarts and which driver or software is involved.
you should read similar threads here, in special where you can see Musashi in it :) [Hello Musashi - got Sushi? ;)]
streaming software often interferes with the Vulkan API in a bad way, might be better to get rid of it...
Will check the windows event viewer. thanks,
And maybe (if you have it) AMD Overlay should be disabled
Should I disable the feature that restarts the computer in the event of a fail? Would that give more logs?
AMD overlay is already disabled.
I do find warnings after the crash that the computer restarted unexpectedly though, and that "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was 0x000000ea (0xffff870732535080, 0x0000000000000, 0x0000000000000 etc."
So, I re-enabled the feature that restarts the PC in the event of a system failure and tried again: I End Task'd 'Radeon Sofware' in Task Manager and ran the game, again the save loaded and again its frozen on the teleporter animation, but has not automatically restarted.
So I think perhaps I have two separate issues, the crash when loading issue (let's call that issue 1) and the teleporter issue (issue 2).
For issue 1, if closing the Radeon Sofware works, is there a better solution that using task manager to close it every time my son wants to play no man's sky? Should I perhaps uninstall it and just re-install if I need to change settings and/or update drivers?
For issue 2, any ideas?
The computer is unresponsive though, the windows key and ctrl+alt+del do nothing.
This time I used the teleporter to teleport to another nearby base built by another player (actually built by me - this is my son's computer with the problem remember). I was then able to teleport from there to the space station. Teleporting back from the space station to my son's base, the game crashed.
Worth noting: in the list of all bases, my son's base appears twice. I use the 'Your bases' filter which shows only the one base. This is the selection that crashed. I think I may have also seen the station listed twice when teleporting from his base, but I think it was only there once on mine. Not sure...
Here's the weirdness about locations listed in the telporter options from his base:
1. When no filters are selected, his base (the current location of his teleporter) appears twice and the space station in system (the only one he has been to) shows twice too.
2. When 'Your bases' is selected, it just shows his base once.
3. The 'space stations' filter is disabled - clicking it does nothing.
4. 'Other bases' shows a few of my bases, and his sisters base AND his base and the space station once each.
This extra copy of the space station and of his base should not appear in the list of options. Space stations and your own bases should not appear in 'Other bases' at all. Is this related?
This time, using the teleporter to warp to another player's nearby base did not work. The game froze.
And disable Steam Cloud amd if nothing helps uninstall that Radeonsoftware completly
1. I flew to another base (not made by the current player) and the base terminus there showed the same issue. The current player's base appeared twice in the list, as did the space station. The current base, however, only appeared once in the list as an Other Base as expected.
2. I used the teleporter to go to the station and go back to the base successfully.
3. When attempting to go back to the station a 2nd time, the game froze. Note that one of the instances of the station in the list is last in the list and I'm being careful not to click that one so that I am hopefully clicking the same instance each time.
It seems like the teleporter crashes are intermittent and may or may not be caused by (or possibly a cause of the issue with multiple items in the list). I think I might suggest to him that he dismantles his base for parts, deletes it and builds another one in another system. He is at the point in the storyline where he has to warp to another system anyway, and he wants to build on a frozen world for some reason. We can then see if avoiding that base and station sort the issue.
Any other thoughts? Is there some way of fixing the teleporter list?
I can suggest he starts a new game. He does have a few hours on it but mostly just exploring and not progressing. If I just throw resources at him, maybe we can get him back to the same progression point quickly. I did get him a nice S Class exotic but we can find another one.
