I know its early, but does anyone know if NMS will be ok on Windows 11? I have got the message that my PC can be upgraded.

If you search the discussion board, there were a couple of threads a few months ago about people testing it out when it was first introduced. I don't remember seeing any really bad news, but it was pretty preliminary.

windows 11 is windows 10 under the hood, it is mostly just a visual upgrade so windows 11 should have no issues. when i used it months ago i had some weird audio driver issue, but that was mostly it - i managed to play games without issues, so it will be totally fine.

The game itself runs well under Windows 11, I did not observe any performance hit. However, I am getting some random crashes. Tried to reinstall the game, update video drivers, and so on, but cannot get rid of these crashes. Sometimes it says "application stopped working...", other times the video freezes, but the game is reacting to key and mouse presses, as I can hear those ticking sounds when I hit Esc, or the shooting sound, when I click the mouse.
I've tried to check the Event Viewer if there is anything meaningful about the crash, but it's only stating that the application crashed for unknown reasons, and that's it.
PC is an i5-9600KF, GTX 1660 Ti, 16G ram, Gigabyte z390 UD mobo.
I've also tried to play something more demanding - Doom Eternal, and that one runs great, no crashes.
Is there a way that I could enable some debug logging, or something similar, to troubleshoot?

Been running Win11 for a few months now & have had zero related crashes.

That's interesting. The general info I've been reading online was that some games take a bit of a performance hit.

I suppose there will be no advantage to updating straight away, so once I get the update message I may just wait and see what happens with other users.

I've read in a couple of places, that it depends on the videocard and CPU type and the resolution you're playing. So I'm on 1080p, with and older display adapter (GTX 1660Ti), and 9 series i5. Affected is mostly AMD / Ryzen, but not just:

Even more interesting, since upgrading to W11, in 3dMark Time spy, I get 6549 points (6626 graphics and 6145 CPU) vs. 6494 points (6635 graphics and 5800 CPU score). So a bit better - however this is insignificant.

OK, I managed to get rid of these random freezes. Solution: re-install Windows 11 from scratch. Previously I had upgraded my Windows 10 installation, so probably some settings were messed up, maybe the video driver was also corrupted at some point (even if I had reinstalled it with the "Clean install" option). So all good with Win 11.

I actually like this solution and now I have an excuse to do a fresh install!

How long did it take? Would it be easy for an oldie like me?

Refreshing Windows 11 went quite well. It took me a bit longer than normal because I am that guy that goes over all the settings and double checks for newer drivers. How long? Figure 6 hrs before you can play NMS again if you don't get distracted with settings. You can always adjust settings as you go along anyway.

Upgraded today to Windows 11, thought it would take hours, like previous upgrades, but was very quick to do, after only about 15 minutes, with a few reboots, it was done.

Have tested NMS for about 30min, and it works without problems for me in Windows 11.

edit.
I noticed that a lot of space disappeared on C: in connection with the installation, just over 28GB, but it turned out that it is the old win10 that is saved temporarily, in case you need to restore.
I have over 100GB free on C: so no problems for me, but others may have to keep this in mind, that a lot of disk space is needed for the installation.

edit 2.
Have used win11 for a few days now, have not experienced any problems, everything works as it should.
No problems with NMS, no problems with other games either.

Great. Thanks. By the way any ideas how long it will be free?

That is very interesting, I'm going to give that a try. For Christmas 2021 my wife got me a gaming PC :
i7-11700KF @ 3.60GHz, 3600 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s), 16G Ram, Z590 PRO WIFI [CEC] (MS-7D09) MOBO with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, NVIDIA compatible.

I was expecting to breeze thru any game on ULTRA settings, but NMS was the bump in the road. My previous PC would only hang when I explored the Abnormality, I just didn't try it after while. This new and by far more powerful PC barely makes it into the game without failing. That being said Mass Affect - Andromeda runs like a charm.

I reinstalled, read up on it and even contacted NVIDIA, all to no avail.

I'm going to try your approach in the next few days to see if that works (I'm a bit stubborn and Scottish). I won't let it defeat me!

Just wanted to document this for others, as I could find little information on what to try next.

.
I have Windows 11 Home, no issues so far aside from bugs everyone has regardless of their Windows version.
