Constant crashing after 5-10 minutes of play?
So I was excited for the NEXT update, and still am. It would be great if I could actually play it at all.

I've been experiencing crashing after 5-10 minutes, it happens every time I try to play, and can happen during any activity. If im lucky I will have just saved, but jumping in and out of my ship every 2-3 minutes really inhibits any sort of exploration at all, and kills progression.

I've tried every crash fix I could find, deleting the shader cache, verifying files, reinstalling, everything I can think of. My PC runs the game smoothly at medium/high settings, and I honestly cant tell if reducing them helped at all. I'm at a complete loss and a little upset that I can't play a game that I paid full price for, and that I waited 2 years for this update only to run into this.

PC specs are as follows, not the best but I dont have any trouble with the vast majority of games.

- Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz

- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980

- NVIDIA Driver version 398.36

- 16 GB RAM

- Microsoft Windows 10 (build 17134), 64-bit

Does ANYONE have any idea what might be causing this?

Don't want any crashes? Follow this :

Update your driver, remove no mans sky and upload one more time, delete shadercache files, delete your save files but make a backup first.

Already tried all of this, sadly.

For me setting the Anti alising to TAA, turning off motion blur quality and setting motion blur to 0 made a change, but after about 2 days of playing I keep getting some crashing again.
Maybe my solution will help you!

I started getting crashes after 1.52. I lowered textures in the menu to medium and the crashes stopped. Weird because i had them set to ultra when Next first released and had no crashes.

Lowering various graphics settings seems to slightly extend play time, but only temporarily. Still crashing constantly after 3 updates from Hello Games. Tried the experimental branch at the recomendation of a friend but had no luck there.

Hello Games PLEASE fix your game. I want to play the game I payed $60 for but its broken as ♥♥♥♥.

I bought the game recently and I was playing fine until yesterday. I have a similar configuration (except my CPU is I7 - not much of a difference anyway). Today it just throws me out upon 10 minutes of play. I will try to lower the video settings but I am sad having to spend so much time just to get this game running...

I run the game with the GOG version, I use a GTX 960 4gb VRAM , but I use the driver 355.82 since 2 years without crashing problems whatsoever.
I keep the FPS capped at 30 and use MEDIUM settings for Textures and Shadows.

i7 4.0 Ghz
16 GB RAM
nVidia GTX 960 4gb VRAM

What is different with the GOG version is that there is no gaming interface interfering with the game settings or my OS. Reduce your Steam Overlay to the minimum activity or start game without if possible. Also be sure to have only the minimum necessary services running in the background, and your Antivirus in gaming mode.

And leaving the planet you are on also helps. I moved elsewhere and the crashing stopped

I even shut down my browser when I play NMS (although to be honest I have a hundred open tabs so that it does use up memory). I always remove the steam overlay when there are issues with games. The thing is, it does not even say what caused it to crash. Anyway, I just think that some planets gets something generated on them that causes the issue in my case. For now, have been playing around 2 hours and no issues. Thanks again japp_02
