Game will not launch, anyone?
Hi all, after having the game working fine after the update, I suddenly could no longer get NMS to launch the following day.
I've updated my drivers, verified game cache, reinstalled several times, tried running without my saves but always the same now: steam will indicate the game is running and syncing for a few seconds after launching and then it just stops.
Would really appreciate input if anyone has an idea or is encountering similar issues (and I'm a longtime NMS enthusiast so plz I miss this game haha)

Edit:
Ok so I found what was causing it on my system at least and got the game working fine so this might work for you guys if you haven't tried this already!

-Find your game executable in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam Games\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries
-Right click properties on the launch file, then compatibility, and click and tick "run this program as administrator".

-It turned out that my firewall was still blocking the game even though it wasn't listed on my blocked files, so this procedure sorted it out.

Note: Before trying this fix I reinstalled the game, then verified game cache, then did a restart before anything else.

I had the same issues. Fresh install, game would start, would even pop up an odd window with a weird resolution, then crash. Running as admin or in compatibility mode didn't work. But my primary monitor is an LG Ultrawide with 2560x1080 resolution and the window opening and closing gave me the impression that might have something to do with it.

Made one of my other monitors the primary display, popped right up without issue. Changed it back and launched the game just as a double-check to share with you beautiful people and after all my monitors went into this seizure-inducing frenzie, the issue returned. Changed the ultrawide to 1920x1080 and it launched without issue. Ugly tho -

Changed it in-game back to 2560x1080 via video options - it crashed.

Launching gave me a similar error as before but I could tell the game was trying to launch in the resolution I had changed it to while the monitor was still 1920x1080. Changed the monitor back to 2560x1080 and the game launches now without issue.

Soooo.... maybe there's some coding issue with the game not seamlessly handling resolution discrepancies between the game and the display. Strikes me as something that should have been worked out by now but I came into this experience expecting annoying bugs and issues. Managing expectations - 1, annoying issues that get my blood pressure up - 0. That's what worked for me. Hope this helps.

I FIXED IT! Run the compatibility wizard and use the setting Windows Update Pack 2000 (or whatever, not any of the Vista options) and it starts right up! Wow amazing!

I'd recommend checking that people have a Vulkan compatible GPU ( https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver ) since Vulkan drivers was added in the update, if not in the list, you most likely won't be able to launch the game at all, I know I can't, since Geforce 500-series isn't compatible with Vulkan.

I tried this however I got a message saying "The code execution cannot procee because MSVCP140.dll was not found.Reinstalling the program may fix the problem."
Start game, black screen, grey screen - stuck. Nice! It was buggy before, at least now I guess there is only 1 bug? :D
hello everyone.well some updates will cause problems....buy they will sort them out however i have found out 2 things.....1 set your steam to run as admin....if the game starts there you go.you can find out how to set steam to admin on utube.also i use F Secure safe as my antivirus.....it has an item in it under admin called Deep Guard turn it off....the game will run and you no longer need to use admin on stema as they do not like you doing that ..not sure why.any problems message me happy to help.
nms does not start error says this application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)
If you are using a secondary anti virus you purchased...turn off deep guard in it or add game to its by pass list.i use F secures and after i turned it off no mans sky worked.
Same for me, the patch did nothing for this problem. I get the "Hello Games" screen and then it just shuts down.

2 nvidia drivers ago my game worked fine.

Nothing to do with my antivirus/firewall, checked that, Ran as admin and all no dice either.

try telling your steam client to run NMS in windowed mode go to NMS game properties in library, in the general tab type -windowed in the field under "launch options" this fixed the issue for me.
do any of your guys appear an error code ?

they give me this one 71055_0xC7F4E_ST76561198051952052
