FPS drop moving around on planets
So at launch the game was just unplayable and I stopped playing. Since recently the NEXT and former updates seemed to deliver, which caught my attention to try again.

Yezzir the game runs smooth up until I am walking around on planets and mining stuff.
I wanna look passed it but ... You know giving my specs i shouldn't have too much problems with FPS dips.

Having said that ...

I5-6600K - 3.50 Ghz base frequency and 3.90 Ghz turbo frequency
RX 470 8 GB
64Gb ram
Properly cooled
Running the game from a Samsung EVO 850 SSD.
WIN10

Tried the following:

-Default settings
-Gsynch to false
-Vsync off ingame, on in the drivers
-Driver shader cache off
-Vsync off ingame, off in the drivers
-OpenGL triple buffer on and off
- Set max fps, set 90 fps, set 60 fps, set 30 fps
- Set everything to low in conjuction with the above
-Application priority to high
-Followed this thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/6j1s3w/no_mans_sky_performance_optimization_guide_pc/
-Cleared out the shader cache numerous of times when swapping settings
-Updates and rolled back drivers a few times
-Steam overlay off
-Checked for stuff hogging the CPU software related.

I haven't messed with turning off stuff in my bios yet. I was thinking of turning off turbo boost, CE1 support and turning off Intel virtualization technlogly. Which I shouldn't have to do considering I don't have problems with others games... But you never know I guess?

Lastly I wanted to try turning off TextureStreamingEx in the config file after tampering with some of my bios it's features. Which again, I don't think I should be doing taken into consideration this problem happens only with this game.

Anyone has some insight? Has the same card as I do? Any piece of information I could work with?

Much appreciated.

Honestly, to play this game you depend on luck, I have the same problem but my specifications are lower.

Now reading your topic I realize, will the problem is my PC or the game?

I'm starting to think the game itself. Updated the MOBO, CPU and RAM just last year. And I don't get it anymore to be fair. The fact I have to dig this deep to play a video game that offers a balance of gameplay mechanics like this is just nervewrecking.

I'm checking out this thread atm: https://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/1/1471967615888254926/

Unfortunately I've done almost everything, i wait that the hello games create an patch for fix the optimization.

Sorry for my bad english

I have done the same things as you did. The whole list. No impact or improvement whatsoever. (i7 6700K, 16 gb 3200 ram, Vega 64 8 GB VRAM)

I really hope they can figure this out because I really enjoy this game.

Right now it really is more a curiosity then simplye frustration regarding the cause because Intel/AMD as well as nvidia/AMD are affected.

NMS ran fine for me before the NEXT update. There was a small patch after the initial NEXT update. Pretty much tanked my system. Frame rates drop to below 10 at times. Same computer, different NMS version. NEXT has made oh so many improvements. Too bad the stutters are making the game unplayable. Dual 1080 Ti, tons of memory, 10 core CPU, NVME drives all over the place, 144 hertz monitors. Sad.

This solved it for me ...

<Property name="NumHighThreads" value="4" />
<Property name="NumLowThreads" value="1" />
<Property name="TextureStreamingEx" value="Off" />
<Property name="TexturePageSizeKb" value="512" />

Those values should be set to your specific system specs:
#of threads you have
#of cores you have
Off
Amount of VRAM you have in MB

Regardless, none of the community fixes seem to do much exept eliminate the horrible stuttering Unfortunately theres nothing we can do except keep waiting for an optimization patch, hopefully on the way after 2 years.

I've spent like 10 hours the last couple days trying to get rid of the horrible stuttering... could you explain more about possible fix for it? I've tried every community suggestion I can find. I have a very common system setup... gtx 970, i5-6500, 16gb ram, M.2 500gb Sata3, Windows 7 sp1, latest drivers, etc. When it isn't stuttering from moving around (loading things) it runs with amazingly smooth performance
Darthtool Jul 30, 2018 @ 2:13am
I’ve found that. High threads 3 / low threads 1 smooths put the game on i5 processors..

The only downside is the terrain vegetation can be a bit slower to load in when moving fast.

VRAM Bug or leak . Been testing since last night and all i can say is patch.....
Chmilz Jul 30, 2018 @ 9:59am
Hit 60fps on ultra settings prior to and including NEXT 1.5. With 1.51 now I'm getting 15fps and after hours of changing settings, nothing has improved performance. They seriously borked something with one of those patches.

Ryzen 5 1600
Radeon 390x

I have an RX 470 4GB, 8GB of RAM and an i5 4460. Copied and pasted these settings (ignoring the monitor properties and changing TexturePageSizeKb to 2048) and the stutter when moving around is gone. Not getting 60fps but at least now it's pretty stable.

the only setting that is making any difference for you is the "numthreadslow 1" setting, otherwise you shluld put the Texture page file back to 64 as this does not do what you might assume it does (its not related to Vram)

if you put numthreadslow back to the default 2 (on 4 core cpus) youll get the old stuttery performance back again.

I'm just getting into tweaking - can you tell me where the file is you're editing to change "numthreadslow" etc.?
