Lag On Some Planets?
So I have an alienware 17 r3 system. Specs are as follows:

Processor- Intel 6th gen core i7-6700HQ CPU (3.5Ghz)
Graphics card- Nvidia Genforce GTX 970m 3gb VRAM
RAM- 32 gb

So my question is why do I lag on certain planets. (30ish fps) Before you jump ahead I have set the fps cap to max and have gsync off. I have all the settings on highest except shadows cause they don't look that different ultra to high. It's very strange because my laptop can handle Battlefield 1 on the highest settings at 1080p.

Is the game just not optimized very well or is my computer not fast enough (doubt it since I don't have any problems with other games like DOOM and Battlefield 1 as stated earlier). Thanks so much for your time and helping me out here.

I had a similar problem... but turning vsync off solved it for me.

I have a gaming laptop too, ASUS ROG, i7, 980m, 4GB VRAM, 8GB RAM.

Not sure really... was this happening before the update or?

Well I only got the game after the update, so I'm not sure what it would have been like beforehand. I have vsync off but it made little to no difference to me.

I have this as well and there seems to be no discernible reason why I get a steady 60fps on one planet and drops into the 30's on others. For example the solar system I'm in right now has two lush planets. Both planets have about the same amount of animals and foliage and no water, and yet one runs perfectly fine while the other fluctuates constantly.

For me the best solution was to turn vsync off, set fps to max, and activate adaptive vsync in Nvidia Control Panel.

Specs:
4790k
GTX 980
16GB RAM
Windows 10

This weirdly reminds me of a similar issue I had the FIRST day of launch...

It got solved like this:

Go to Graphics, set all to High (or Ultra, or your preferred setting)
Save and restart the game

Go to Graphics, set all to Low
Save and restart the game

Go to Graphics, set all to High (or Ultra, or your preferred setting)
Save and restart the game

Play.

... Should play better now. It was something connected to loading specific shaders or something. After the update I notice the game now preloads them, but not sure. It added 20 frames to my framerate then, and from 30-40 fps I was then getting 60+.
