980ti, 3570k, 8gb for the record...
The pop in issue might very well be related to the low fps issue. I made several posts just after 1.3 concerning weird LOD behavior causing massive fps loss, but my posts got quickly buried because the forums were going wild the first couple of days.
With the 1070 the GPU load was up to 99% and typically in the 90% depending what was happening. Doing a low level flyover I could see the FPS drop at times and notice the pop ins.
I use a i7 6700k at 4.6ghz.
16GB of RAM.
SSD for the game
NVMe for the OS.
With the 1080Ti Xtreme card I haven't as yet seen the GPU load over 46% and typically it is lower. But the low level fly overs are much smoother, the FPS never changes from 60. That is the limitation of my monitor. The pop ins do not seem to happen with the same regularity as they were previously. They do happen but were more of an issue with the 1070. I can't believe how fluid and responsive the flight controls feels as the ship fly over terrain which is moving past much faster and smoother than it was with the 1070.
The numbers are there in the GPU load and FPS consistency and it is the smoothness of the game which impresses me most.
Only done limited testing as yet due to the lateness of fitting the card but the above impressions are much better than I imagined.
