*Difficulty Question*
I know you're able to run into other players while playing, BUT you *cannot* run into players playing on a different difficulty than you are. So, my question is:

If I wanted to play on a difficulty with the highest potential to run into other players, what difficulty would that be?

Probably normal, I've left it there & frequently see people in the "Featured" Base Star Systems.

I randomly started A Settlement there when I started & now that it's turned into something fun I spend more time in the area & see people all the time popping in & out of the system & the Station.

I don't know how Popular the others are but I went to the Last Egg from the First Dragon Base & just went from there.

Way I've come to see it, these places are the closest to in Game Hubs we have outside of the Anomaly to see & encounter other Players.

Even ran into A few of the folks who make YT Guides I've used to get A leg up on the Expeditions.

So Anomaly, Featured Bases, Popular Planets where people make Bases, Also Expedition Planets, there was A Milestone to build A base, I wanna say Omega, but on the Planet I'm on Wureno there's still 90+ something bases & people popping in & headed out pretty often.

There's groups too, Like the Base Builders, there's A few on A Single Planet & A couple Scattered in this single System, I imagine they're not the only ones out there like this, A little Colony of oddballs with way more creativity than folks should be allowed to have.

I only say that because I constantly end up floored by what these cats cook up & all I can do is make A working Plinko Machine while these folks are making Art.

Not sure about most of what you said since I haven't played this game much, but thanks for the information. I'll start a Normal game.

Percello :
you only separated with players that are in perma-death, everybody else is in the same "galaxy"

if you chose perma-death you will connect to a different network and never see any players outside perma-death,
if you wish to play with a player that is in perma-death you will need to start a new run ....

my longest run is in perma-death and i have a few other runs in custom difficulty (not perma-death)

any time i am in a session that is not perma-death i can see anyone at the space anomaly,

btw, you can you start an expedition from a perma-death save through the space anomaly interface, it will put you in standard difficulty until your expedition is completed

Ah yes, sorry, got ahead of myself then.

Eventually in progressing the games story you'll encounter the Anomaly, it's the Games Hub for Multiplayer meet ups & interactions, communal missions, trades, begging for freebies & so forth.

There is A Huge Teleporter in it that has the option to go to A list of Featured Bases made by players that Hello Games put into this Category & unlike the Star Systems you discover or Bases from players, these places are always available to everyone to check out regardless of whether or not you've been there before.

Normally you have to discover the star system before you can teleport to it, so make sure you go to every space station you come across, the Featured Bases are open too all as soon as you can get to it & everyone sooner or later tends to get bored or curious & go's to check them out.

Sorry if it was A bit much there, still sorting alot of it myself, just discovered the Base Building Camera today & I've been building without it like A Moron for months.

So hopefully this helps make A little sense & brings ya where you want to go & gets you hopping around with some ragtag group of miscreants or A few Million Credits in random goodies from the Anomaly & the denizens therin, myself included.

See ya out there & enjoy!

sure you can... only permadeath and expeditions are in separate play space... all others are in together... there used to be more separation but that was reduced a year or two ago with one of the big updates...

most likely normal... not everyone likes permadeath or even survival... many just want to relax and explore/build without having to deal with some damned battle all the time...

Relax, Normal, and Survival difficulty levels can now be freely switched between in the difficulty settings. This means they are essentially different settings of the same mode. As a result, the same location might appear differently to different players - it could be a planet with aggressive Sentinels for one person, in the middle of a storm for another, or a peaceful planet for someone else.

The actual weather is randomized and not synced in multiplayer. But neither the weather type of a planet nor the sentinel presence is influenced by the difficulty settings. Only the enemy strength is different.

I see. It seems my information was inaccurate. Thank you for providing additional details.
