I broke my exocraft technician
My freighter came with an exocraft technician, and during renovations, I removed the room, not realizing I couldn't rebuild it. I've just unlocked the room via The Anomaly, but even when it is placed, the quest marker for "Return to the Technician" is either a) below the floor when I am in the building area, or b) inside the ceiling if I am in the Starship bay. I cannot proceed with the "Exocraft Technician" quest unless I can find some way to reset their position.

Edit: Apparently the room I thought was the room wasn't the room, and after a few more steps with the overseer, I was able to build the correct room and fix the issue, thanks all.

A solution may be to build the station in a planetary base. Hopefully you will be able to summon the tech there to carry on.

If not, and just in case others don't have a solution, here's the devs bug report link. > https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

i would report this to HG's zendesk along with a copy of the save files where this is happening... there is a link here https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ to report the issue...

also, you could try placing the technician's room on a planet-side base... the entire base building stuff was originally meant to be used planet-side before Freighters were even thought of being added to the game...

Fun Fact: if you have the base building NPC terminals in multiples of your bases, the NPCs will hop to the one you are at when you try to use their terminal...

Yes, you mean the one for getting to my settlement and such, right?

The various technicians' rooms and terminals cannot be purchased on Anomaly, they can only be obtained from the 'Overseer' in the base building quest.

What you acquired and built was probably this,

But the exo-technician has his own different room, and you will get it at the end of the above quest.
Yeah, I think HG made an error by having that room in a freighter which you could get before the questline actually gets you the room in the normal way. I only put my tech guys on my freighter after I have completed the questline at a land base. Better safe than sorry.

Yes. Freighter builds can glitch. One "fix" I've used in the past is use the teleporter to warp to the station in your current system & warp right back.

It doesn't have to be the station in your system, it's just that that warp is significantly quicker than warping anywhere else.

I had a bug where warping to my freighter took me to my teleport room, but it wasn't connected to my ship. I used that trick & it showed back up. The next time I warped in I could only see the hall, not what I had actually built.

Basically any time my freighter build would glitch out, I'd teleport in/out once or twice & it would correct itself.

After a few instances of showing up to a glitch & fixing it by warping, I've never had it glitch out again (although I haven't built a bunch more rooms since then either).

I looked in the base building pieces at one of my planetary bases, and while I can build the construction station and the science station, for some reason, even though I built the exocraft one on my freighter, there isn't an option to build one in my planet-side build menu.

Unfortunately this did not work, I warped back and forth a bunch, but the icon for the quest is still in the floor/ceiling.

Interesting. I've never had a quest icon stuck, but I've had my crew stuck in the floor plenty of times & a forced reload has usually worked.

As I wrote here in my previous post, you have built the wrong room.
The room you have built now, is not the room where the exo-technician can work.

You will get the blueprint for the exo-technician's room from the 'Overseer', when you have completed his quest series.
