Time for 50 players to add a base there.
You mean you found a jungle moon of a gas giant, right? Because the view will change depending on where in the orbit the moon is and what side of the moon you're on.

Also, now that I mention it.... does anyone know if there is such thing as a tidally-locked moon in NMS? I've never thought about it before and now I'm really curious... lol

As I understood things, no planets or moons orbit in NMS at all. They just hang there in space exactly the same way that bricks do. So unless something has suddenly changed that view will always be the same, unless it's night of course. To see the night view partially close your eyes.

There is a reason for planets not rotating by the way. They used to rotate at the release but people complained that the terrain resets every time they land "in the same spot".
Uugh, how did I not notice that everything is tidally locked in this game? :steamfacepalm:
lol Oh well, just ignore me then, I thought they simulated orbits....

I kinda remember them talking about it back when the game came out. If it's true they removed it, then shame on HG. That is not a feature that should have been removed for any reason. I don't care who complains....

The game has never had orbits at any point during it's development, the people talking abt it back then were misinterpreting a note on the day one patch saying "Play testing has made it obvious people are struggling to adjust to this during play so its effects have been reduced further…" but there was no true orbital system before or after, just day/night cycles in which the sun rotates around the entire star system like today. I believe this patch note was trying to say they lengthened the time of day but didn't want to break the illusion. Sadly orbital movement of stellar bodies is almost impossible with the way NMS does everything unless they fake it, especially with how clumped together star systems are

Just to be pedantic: "In much the same way that bricks don't" (Douglas Adams, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).
Nice view. Very surreal.
