My freighter next project I am planning after I get mining bases done for every mineral.

right now it is just a bunch of stuff I threw down in a very haphazard way.

Really great looking bases you built.
Thank you, the aquarium took the longest lol, for I ended up using the stone trough as a bottom and top border. Remember, per base you can only place 10 wonder projectors unfortunately.
Man alive, y'all build some monster bases out there!

Good stuff folks! can't wait to get off work & check A few of these out!

Be happy to add A Few to the list here, found that those Foundations make the best posts for Landing Pads & I LOVE using them for Solar Farms.

Favorite for A water base is to have the Biodome in the center & take 2 curved walkways on each attachable corner & twist them so they look like A Sun Burst, put A Foundation at the end, A series of Solar Panels & Batteries & it's artsy & functional!

Even better on the Island on Wureno X, I managed by sheer luck, A location that never has A night time, it's perpetual twilight, morning or evening!

So not A battery in sight 20k Sodium, gotta make the trip worthwhile after all!

Also I never build with the Terrain Manipulator, stuff will either disappear or reappear at random times, I've managed to get lucky & end up making something REALLY unique when the terrain does that, always just better to measure twice, cut once or have A LOT of Bondini Glue around!
Simple.... first I put a prefab cube (or 2 on to of each other) to make sure my first building won't alterate the terrain.
- Next I start stacking cuboid room to make sure I reach high enough to be above the vegetation (above the highest trees in the area so I never find trees growing in my base later on).
- Next I build a square room of 5 x 5 with prefab cuboid rooms, with a glass cuboid room at each corner.. Then at the middle of each side I had a single cuboid room.
- I go 2 levels lower on the central pillar and put 2 prefab cubes, one on each side, stick a wire in the middle of the top of the first one and make it go to the center of the top of the second one ( they will serve to glitch build the output supply depots). The goal is that once I put the supply depot on those cubes, the top will go trough the floor of the big room above.
- I glitch build my 2 supply depots, remove the 2 cube I use to build the supply depots on and replace them with the big circular fundation prefab (the one that has a hole in the middle, to fit the supply depots). I remove the wire use to glitch build the 2 depots.
- I go to the foot of the central pillar and do the same thing with a wire so the supply depots I will build there will be right below the ones above. This will be the real storage (glitch build of all the supply depots I need, using the wire, stacked on each others).
This time I put 10 depots stacked on each others on each side, and connect them to the single depot above (each stack connected only to the single depot above). This will be my collect nexus for each of the 2 ressources (1 gas, 1 mineral).
- At the foot of the pillar I put a door of any type, then inside the cuboid room I wire-glitch build a SRT. I go at the main room above and put an SRT in one of the cuboid room I've build on the middle of each side (usually I go for one of the cuboid room that is facing both of the supply depot that are accessable in that room). On each side I place a landing pad, on the last cuboid room, facing the SRT, I put the portal.
- Then on top of the big square room I add 5 cuboid rooms, one at each corner, one in the middle, place one bio-dome atop each of those 5 cuboid rooms, then remove the 5 cuboid rooms and place 5 other bio-dome at their place (that's a total of 10 bio-dome, stack on each other 2 by 2).
- Final phase is to exploit the ressource hotspot (1 energy, 1 gas, 1 mineral) and connect them to the main building..... they need to be below 250u away from the central building, so it must be placed at the center of the 3 hotspots. I'm also uing wire glitch building method to stack on each others the magnetic generator, the gas extractor and the mineral extractor. Same as the main building, I start with a single cube, use a wire to set the location of the exctractors, then put a cuboid room around and a round prefab room atop (so the extractor/generator pass trough the floor inside the round room).

This is an exagerated version to test the limit of the glitch building possiblities with stacking bio-domes.... on my normal bases I only stack them by 2:

That's what the inside look like (again this one as twice the capacity, usually I add supply depots untill I reach 15K capacity, filled in 12 hours)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3241719354

Result is that once complete all you have to do is to portal at the base every 12 hours, grab all ressources in less than 30 seconds (2 supply depots are in front of the portal and the bio-dome are harvestable from below), then return to your normal activities trough the portal....

The first base I built in my starting system. Before I knew about the terrain very likely reappearing.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3430784747

It is in a really good location, 3 different mineral deep deposits within about 300-400u, runaway mold, small settlement right next door, about a 5 second flight to a trade outpost and comms tower.

Took about 2 months for most of the terrain to respawn,

I been also been playing around with bases that are designed for quick retrieval of resources. think I might try something similar to what you do.

I have started building some bases to make it easy to gather things like storm crystals, pearls, etc. That are also supplying minerals.

If it helps any, my first one was completely underground, tried to carve into the side of A Mountain & have A Pillar Fortress base kind like the Decepticons had from the old 80s cartoon.

Made it through the first floor of construction, ran out of materials, went for more, came back & found myself lodged in A Wall & my base full of everything I had removed.

Latest was having A Cabin inside A Gas Giant cave system, they did an update that shifted the gas Giants Surface area further, so now the Cabin is floating inside the Gas Giant where the cave USED to be, you can see all the cave systems from below & it looks like your inside A Sun.

Gonna be my last project for this save since I HAVE to be getting 16,000 limit.

Edit, forgot I had one ♥♥♥ of the Gas Cabin.

The Lighthouse/Resupply Section, Water Toys in the Back & A shameless plug to all the planets I have Bases on in the Middle as Wonders for Coordinates.

Next up, A personal one, I use this place to showcase the stuff I keep learning when I base Build, it got kinda reamed with Worlds II, it used to be A Gold Colored Grass Forest Planet, it was the Spitting image of A Place called Spring Lake/Howarth Park, it's now FAR from it, I almost deleted the base because of it.

Hope this isn't too much, first time actually throwing this many out there, thanks again to all the Base Builders out there, keep it up, there's no shortage of creativity at play here & that's nothing the folks at Hello Games could ever program.
When building an an extreme planet (or almost any planet), if you have issues with being outside when a storm hits and it interferes, there is a way around it.

If you go inside of a building and use the camera to build instead of being there, even during a storm, you'll be safe and be able to build outside without losing hazard protection. The only real limit is the camera distance limits.

The first base I built in my starting system. Before I knew about the terrain very likely reappearing.

That's the main point of my design. It avoid most respawn issues by making sure that first no terrain manipulation is done and second that no rock or flora will respawn in the building.
I've refined my designed since 2018 and only rare issues I came across was after big patches that changed the planet generation, readically affecting the biome of the planet where my bases were.
I also used to remove all terrain edit with the Json editor after building each bases.

That square mushroom base can be fitted above any terrain (I also tested using the save editor to directly recreate the basic part of the base on different places with zero issues)

For placing the base computer the trick is to use your terrain manipulator to create a plateform on which to build it first, then use the restore function to remove your terrain edits (your base computer will stay in mid air untill you move it somewhere inside the completed base building).

Another advantage of that design is that it doesnt require a lot of parts and you can go crazy with the number of bases like that you can build... I went above 30 before hitting the build limit (34 or 35, something like that).
This let you farm all available minerals, gases and plants you might need in massive quantities....

Though with this you will quickly hit a brick wall where you'll have your freighter filled to the brim with the most expensive tradable items, several full stacks of all available ressources in the game, your money capped and nothing left to purchase.... that the point I reached and so I started moving toward other galaxies, relocating my bases, searching for perfect planets for each biomes, and ofc trying to improve on my current design (something more efficient and faster to set-up).
Tho I kept a couple old more sophisticated, very inefficient, prototype designs that I made to test basic logic circuitry to automate things like doors, lights and music....

As far as tricks, I'm not a fan of glitching or external build tools that inject back into your save game.

But the video below is all about precise placement tricks, with existing game mechanics. Like adding a floor perfectly on top of another. With that you can put a wall slightly offset into another wall. Like a window inside a stone arch. You can lineup landing pads precisely side by side with prefab corridors. This I like, feels like Lego.

Next level from precise snap building, for me, was the below video. This concept that a wall is 20 floors tall. That 4 cuboids have the same width as 3 floors. He goes into way more, that I did not care about, but also covers the basics of "1 unit in NMS is yay big".
