It needs to be said again: The locking of new content behind a tedious questline is unacceptable.
I can agree that people playing normal mode (who likely have more of an interest in the questline) should have to do the quest line to access purple star systems.

However, locking the new content HG was so eager to show off behind this tedious multiple hour long affair known as the Artemis questline for creative mode players (who just want to build and probably don't care about the quests) is a stupid idea and actively prevents returning players such as myself from accessing new content.

Don't tell me it's "easy enough to do in 20 hours or so." That's absurd. To those of us with limited gaming time during our week, 20 hours is multiple weeks worth of needing to play this annoying and repetitive series of fetch quests in order to even set eyes on an ocean planet.

Everything should be immediately accessible in creative mode, period.

I take it you never bothered with the autophage questline before then?

And if you just want to see the new planet types, then go do the Titan expo...

Looking at it a different way, it's fine that purple systems are gated the same way others are gated behind their respective stellar metal drives.
The issue is that the purple systems are the only systems they applied the new planet generation to.

Just give us the new generation upgrade universe-wide, no problems.
If you say that you'd lose your base if they did that, then I hope you won't be playing Light No Fire.
You'd lose your base.

Are you sure?
Yes, the new planet types are locked to purple systems, but I'm pretty sure the new terrain generation applied to all unexplored systems (that or I've just been getting very lucky with more interesting landscapes than usual in my new save)

Yep.
You won't be seeing any of the new ocean-sized oceans outside of purple systems, for example.

You're not special just because you play on creative. Unlock the ♥♥♥♥ just like everyone else has to.

Quests in NMS are extremely boring and artificially streteched way, way too thin.

Wait, really?
They gated entire star systems and planet types behind a questline?

A repetitive questline with fetch quests no less?

OP is right, that is bad. I won't bother returning either, then.

Ocean planets are some of my favourite biomes, I really want to explore them but being forced to grind through a boring questline is just not my jam. I dont have that much time in a week and I want the time I spend to be fun. Repetitive questing is not fun.

This is probably my biggest beef with NMS to begin with, it doesnt seem to have anything to do that isnt repetitive and boring except building, which requires mat grinding anyway.

Despite the fact that I don't even play creative mode, I still think this makes sense. The whole point of creative is NOT needing to do a ton of grind work just to build a nice base.

There's nothing stopping you from building a nice base... it's just preventing you from doing so in purple systems...

Where are the complaints about the QS trader selling base parts/decorations? That's actually relevant to building...

Well.... having end game content "locked" behind reaching the actual endgame feels pretty logical/legit to me..... but now I'm plaing the same save since 2018....

I 've been back to the game recently and haven't visited any of the new system with gas planets and such yet, even tho I'm at the end of all previous storylines already since monthes...
I've already fished a couple fishes and remade some of my old bases tho !

This sort of gating just makes people look at the game and think about ending their play modes a lot sooner; reducing their engagement with the game.
Most people I know who play don't play a single save, they have different saves for different types of play, many of which they don't do the full quest line again because it's too long, repetitive, boring and just ... not engaging enough to spend the 20-30 hours to do it on every save.
Previously there was a small amount of content that was unavailable. Now players are being told "There are entire systems you will never reach unless you dedicate all your play time to a single save." Which is telling people with multiple saves "Either dedicate days or weeks of effort to all those saves, or abandon the concept of any new content.

When being blocked like this, players will look for other things to engage their time.
It is possible that this is Hello Games trying to lower the engagement for No Man's Sky to increase the engagement for Light No Fire; but I suspect it is just them not caring.
Ah Didums far to many I want everything now types, if you had been playing for any length of time you would already have one save among many that has the majority if not all the Artemis, Atlas and Autophage stuff done. If not it is you who has lost out, if you only play Creative to build crap what difference does it make where you do it anyway.
Whinging about is just making you look self entitled and needy.
