But give it a go. If you get through it you will actually be geared up quite well for a new player and you can still do all the quests once the Expedition save converts to a normal save.
Expeditions have, at least for the last few years, returned in a 'condensed' format at the end of each calendar year. Usually 4 or so previous ones are made available again so you will be able to do those as well.
Give it a shot. As long as you have fun then that is what its all about.
This one is a lot more complicated, at least it was for me, because my teleporter listing did not ever show other player's bases. Those bases can be extremely helpful if you want to move through an expedition smooth as glass. On the plus side, not having them be so useful made it a little more challenging.
They are really different from the normal game. While it is still not action packed, the expeditions tend to dump rewards on you that would take hours to gain in the normal game.
I would say you can do it, just be aware it is different and when you do play the normal game toss a lot of what you saw in the expedition out the window.
@OP
Expeditions presume you have an understanding of the game's mechanics, so you may want to play through the first few hours of a normal mode run, focusing on the story missions, to get your bearings, then jump into the expo with some idea what you're doing
