Quartzite refines to Chromatic Metal

I'm just posting this for players who might be stuck with the first phase of the expedition like I was. The in-game guide doesn't include Quartzite as a material that can refine to Chromatic Metal yet. Hopefully, that's rectified as it took me hours to even figure out to give it a try. Hope it helps.

i learned this a bit too late in the expedition and got stuck trying to go to another system until i realised this.

I would have thought it'd be common sense, as purple systems have purple metal (which is the quartzite) and in every other system, the colored metal (Chromatic Metal) refines into Chromatic Metal.

The Activated Quartzite is particularly lucrative. You might want to keep some regular quartzite for a couple of the new things that was added in Worlds 2, but the Activated? It refines at 1:4 at very high speed. It only takes about a minute and a half to get 800 AQ to 3200 CM. Just insane conversion rates, lol.

And since AQ isn't really used for anything else other than selling, might as well pick some up and refine it.

Honestly I didn't even realize you could refine anything OTHER than copper for chromatic, but the quest popup for this expedition lists copper, plus all the other stellar metals EXCEPT quartzite, kinda of a goofy oversight in writing here that I'm sure confused a ton of new players, had me looking at all the planets on a freighter scan for any of the metals until I realized it might be the new one.

Thanks to you I'm not blocked anymore on the expedition 17 haha I didn't know we could have chromatic metal with Quartzite and I didn't find any copper :'(

Is it Activated that is used in its recipe? I was thinking it was normal Quartzite. That's odd, the only other time Activated is used for a recipe is Copper for a type of starship damage on crashed starships.

I wasted 5 hours across 2 days trying to find Copper... or any of the other (rarer) 3 materials listed that can become Chromatic. Thank you. They need to fix that data entry. was absolutely loving the game (first timer) and now I'm not sure I even want to continue.

Thank you. Just wasted last two hours looking for something to refine into chromatic. They really need to update the recipe data when they add new materials.

Of course quartzite refines into chromatic metal, like every other Stellar Material. (I guess you could count chromatic metal as a material itself, but not including that)
