Dioxite changed to Copper with Autonomous Mining
Never happened before that deposits change minerals upon automatic mining.

On NITEET, Eburn Beta, deposits of Dioxite give Copper with the Autonomous Mining Unit -- regular Dioxite if manual mining.
Same thing on BISJONS-SOMA IV, Hootlebe Bunji.

I didn't test othe minerals ( ugly weather ) nor elsewhere. Perchance a "local" glitch.
Tested save-reload to no avail.

ATUs are glitchy. When you empty them, leave 1 unit in the hopper. This will prevent them from changing to copper. Also, sometimes they delete their contents.

P.S. brand new ATU, not a refill on a second pass.
The ATU are pretty buggy since day one. It makes more sense to just mine the deposit with the terrain tool versus waiting around for the small amount it provides...and it often doesn't even give you what you wanted it do.

The other problem is they are easy to lose unless you have a deposit right next to your base or are playing far enough away from other that you are not going to confuse the save beacon icons.

Having the same issue with multiple resources on other planets. Also, if I delete then try to place a new one, it won't stick on deposit. I've used these for years without an issue. I only use them on resources adjacent to my bases.

I just visited a humid moon and scanned an underwater dioxite deposit. Wierd! :steammocking:
I think this is a new bug. Tried to mine dioxite and sodium on a cold world in a purple star system, but when I placed AMUs on the deposits they only produced quartzite. Mining by multitool produced dioxite and sodium as expected.
Same thing happened to me except it wasn't dioxite and the thing was empty anyway

Oh it is absolutely not a new bug. As pointed out before it's been around for years. Just replace any mention of copper with stellar metal and you have the bug. Honestly don't even bother with them unless you plan on babysitting them or specifically want just stellar metals, which honestly is about the only resource you're likely to need a ton of before you unlock better options. Anything else better off hand mining until you can set up automated mining bases once you have the survey device.
Between the Worlds 1 and 2 updates I had AMUs on several planets mining ammonia, dioxite (on two planets), sodium, pyrite, and phosphorus as well as stellar materials that worked fine without any babysitting for months, and I had zero problems of the kinds I hear about from earlier versions of the game. I also had atmospheric harvesters producing radon, nitrogen and sulpherine, working just as well. After worlds 2 some of my AMUs disappeared but the rest continued to work and I installed some new ones including one to produce crystal He on a gas giant, which also works fine. So if this is the same as the historical bug, at the worst you had to be pretty unlucky to run into it.

It is not new, I had before worlds two, just never really bothered about it, I have a couple of bases that have surface deposits close by, and normally in that case drop three or four auto miners on them, and every time I refuel them and empty them, they change the next time I return to do it.

... found a workaround : save, quit, reload ; corny but effective, fortunately that 'bug' seems to occur once per... gameplay session. :)

There's a lot of bugs that this temporarily fixes
