Demanding consignment mission issue
OK it says to deliver Vector compressors - but I never received any in my inventory. Is this a bug or do I have to find a place to pick them up? I went to the mission marker, it looks like a Christmas package, but its the delivery location not the pick up location, and when I click on the delivery box it says that I misplaced the items but I should put something in there anyhow. I don't want to get my rep destroyed by abandoning the mission or placing some other item in the box. Any advice?

Firstly, your rep is entirely unaffected by abandoning missions, so no need to worry about that.

It's odd that the envoy didn't give you the necessary goods for the mission, but maybe you sold them by accident (it happens)
Vector compressors are a fairly easy item to find though, you just need to visit a Technology Economy... It's a high value trade good though, so you'll need to visit a 3 star economy (flourishing, booming, etc) to ensure it will be in stock at trade terminals

More than likely you sold them not realizing they were the delivery item. They don't tell you those specifics until you actually activate the mission in your log. A good way to check this theory is to see if you have one of those sentinels to the rescue chits. That particular station mission always give you one of those (because you are supposed to be attacked on your way to the location- but it rarely works).

Also possible you gave them away to a pilot during one of the random encounters on your way to the location. At least for me, I had a terrible habit of selling the delivery items off until I started checking exactly what I got to deliver. I was always trying to free up space in my inventory and just had the habit of doing that just before I left a station.

ok- thank you - ya - I don't think I sold the items- but its possible. I wonder if I put some goop in the delivery box if I will get a message back from the client ..LOL

Slime wont work. You have to deliver the type of goods they are looking for... so you'll need to get some vector compressors if you want to complete it.

...
"Deliver an item" missions have ALWAYS affected your reputation. Perhaps it changed since v5.x... I'll check

Merchants starting rep = 44

Now lets abandon the mission
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3368490381
...and rep goes down by 1

Update: nope, nothing changed even on v5.27 - abandoning a delivery mission still negatively affects your guild reputation

Update 2: I started a new save and had a Gek delivery mission, so I tested that one too. Yup, still loose -1 rep (odd, it didn't play the sharp "lost" audio... maybe because it was zero to start)

I have never not received the delivery item but it certainly could be a new bug.

For this and future "deliver item" missions, they are always standard items. You could simply purchase the item and then go to the "delivery" location to complete the mission. Or abandon the mission for a -1 drop on rep.

Edit: BTW "Vector Compressors" can be purchased in a system with a "Manufacturing" economy. They go by multiple names which can be found here: https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Economy#Economy_Type

It's been quite a while since I abandoned an envoy mission, so I guess I'm just remembering wrong...
Maybe -1 rep just felt like it wasn't a penalty because I could just kill a dreadnought for an easy 5-8 rep...
Maybe it was just delivery missions that have a penalty (makes sense given they give you items to deliver) and other mission types have no penalty...
I'll have to do some tests now...

I mean it makes sense, they are "giving" you an item to deliver. If you abandon the mission, you still keep the item which you can then sell.

I almost never abandon missions since nearly all of them can be completed "in batches"(1), including "Deliver item" missions. Having said that, I don't recall any other missions penalizing reputation, other than deliver an item.

(1) Just confirmed the deliver item still works, in batches. I believe it was in v5.2 I confirmed both the Scan missions (minerals and the flora) ones still work. We all know the "Kill 'x' of <anything>" stacks and can be completed in batches. :nmsatlas:
