It seems that, after the expedition, I can gain an infinite number of these through the quicksilver merchant. (I exaggerate: I only have 2 in my inventory, but the merchant is offering yet another one as "Available".)

Second question: why do I need even one of these anymore? Are they somehow used for getting quicksilver from monoliths?

In nearly every Expedition there are new items added that are sometimes used during the expedition but many are simply trinkets. The "worm" expedition had like 5 or 6 Worm Folios (skin)... useless but keepsakes. I saved all of them in my mega save project <- image blow

Anywho... I just tested the Dosimeter on a normal save and it did nothing. The Alien Plaque I accessed did not offer to take a reading for Nada. So it's useful only in specific expeditions.

Yes, I keep a copy of each trinket in storage as well. Thanks for confirming that they have no use outside of expeditions.

I wonder why they let me collect multiple copies? I guess I can give one to each of my exocraft. :-)

I have a storage container half full of the various completely useless bits and bobs we get from expeditions. After starting my current "main" save, back when they first added the expedition terminal to the anomaly, I did every single expedition back to the original just to gather up all those bits and bobs on a single save.

I didn't keep the dossimeter though. As you discovered, you can just claim one as many times as you want so it doesn't really qualify as an 'expedition souvenir', imo.

I really wish Hello Games would add trophy display cases where we could display useless junk from expeditions.

Think of them as personal treasures to remind you of the expedition, beyond the other rewards you may have earned.

Well, I can sell them for 3200 units, so with an infinite number from the QS merchant, I guess I can get an infinite number of units!

(Who am I kidding? As usual, I'll use my Exalted status in all guilds to get infinite free stuff, and farm dissonant planets for Interceptors to sell...)
