Can't discover uncharted star systems.
They are all discovered by someone. I have been trying for hours and every single one says discovered by...... I have tried going through black holes and every direction I can go. They are all discovered by someone!

edit: Got by going into offline mode. In VR searching through the map is a lot different than flat screen.

Short answer, you need to jump 2k to 4k in some direction that is not the expedition path or galaxy core. Your probably jumping back and forth in the same general area.

This, without this guide it would've been a NIGHTMARE!

Go to Polo. Get a Black Hole location.
Hole Jump (100,000 to 1,000,000 ly) away from the rest of the Expedition area (and the general player start "zone")
Find 8 new star systems near where you come out.
Go to a Station, or summon Anomaly, and teleport back to you last marked Rendevous.

Or, exit the game, then put steam into offline mode. All systems will count as being undiscovered.

I just warped about 4000 lys toward the galaxy edge (not center). You just use the line to the center and make sure you are pointed away from it. Any first contact system you reach will work. Once you are finding those, just short hop to nearby systems.

i hopped five times backwards before i was able to start finding blue stars available. i would recommend upgrading warp drive in freighter to go to blue stars. once i found an available blue star, it didn't take long after that to get eight.

just go through a portal after tapping in some random glyphs.. it will likely take you "somewhere" that few people have ever seen.

tbh i spent nearly 8 hours trying to get it,as running out of warp fuel was a pain.
I hope hello games dont put this back in the upcoming exp.

All i did was jumping to the middle until i got it,but damn having to make fuel for the jumps all the time was a pain in the butt.

For those that don't bother to follow the link or read one of the other dozen or so topics discussing this issue:

Originally posted by me:
Milestone 5 - Uncharted: Probably the hardest milestone the longer the Expedition runs. There are multiple ways to achieve this.

The Exploit - Just play with Steam set to Offline for the duration of this milestone. Every system you warp to will be undiscovered.

Otherwise, the hard way, warp away from the "normal" paths, i.e. not along the Expedition path nor the galactic core path. Warp as far away as you can using free look in the Galactic Map and hope to find an unpopulated region. If you have upgraded your hyperdrive in the Freighter (you get the blueprint for the Temporal Warp Computer to get to all stellar colour systems) then you should target blue and green stellar class systems as they will be less likely to be discovered than yellow or red.

Another method is to use portals. Start system, Rv 1 and Rv 3 space stations all have a Traveller you can talk to and visit their grave and get the first 3 glyphs. Each Rendezvous is at a Portal. Activate a portal and use a random selection of your known glyphs to move yourself to a random sector of the galaxy away from all the other Expedition players to improve your chances of finding unexplored regions.
Additional methods suggested in other topics:
  • Use black holes (as mentioned by dreamrider above)
  • Use other player featured bases (particularly if they are in non-Euclid galaxies) from the Anomaly teleporter list
  • Use the Nexus missions - the weekend mission will take you well away from the Expedition path. From there, head away from the core.

Every rendezvous point is a portal in this expedition.

What I did: find two glyphs by speaking with the Traveler in two space stations, then just put in a random combination of 1 and 2. Instantly I was in a whole uncharted part of the galaxy.

Go up or down. Most people think in horizontal space, so those systems are more explored.
