Experimental Branch 15/11
Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a patch to address some problems. We'll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

Experimental Branch 15/11
  • Fixed an issue that could cause graphical corruption when talking to NPCs on Switch.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause some ship types to fail to find a landing site.
  • Fixed a crash related to flying the starship over land.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here on PC: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\ and here on mac: ~/Library/Application Support/HelloGames/NMS/

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

Think that patch just dropped, got das boot from 3xperimental and have also been having issues with landing, again today. Good to get that taken care of before the weekend starts, well for us on NA,SA anyway.
When i turn around my FPS drops from 90 to 10...if i just spinning around i got 5 fps...that's terrible...

The latest update causes NMS to crash especially when approaching planets with floating islands.
Please leave this path immediately and return to the previous update.
Furthermore, there is an expedition underway and I can no longer continue... there is the risk of losing everything!!!
Thanks

PS
(plus all the old bugs are still there, do you really want to completely tear up this wonderful blanket??)

ExoSuit Inventory screen has a hiccup. The cursor now fall between the Technology and Cargo. It use to fall on the First row 9th position of the Cargo Hold. This is a prime slot for massive amounts of fish one would like to release in a pretty easy two thumb alternating button mash. Left thumb hits select to open inventory/ Right thumb hits X to release fish. Rinse repeat. Now I have to tickle the joystick to the slot with fish.

Secondly the Technology section will now NOT say positioned in the first top 3 rows. I keep my personal refiner in the third row 10th slot (far right), with this hiccup now I have to move my cursor over to the hold area and then use the dpad to adjust up.

Flying close to water now causes my ship to bounce off an invisible wall. Noticed this in the current weekend Nexus mission to secure some hadal cores. Thought I'd just fly low and slow and watch my hud for threats. Can't get low enough now.

The game start with your default Bordered screen mode reveling my taskbar while playing. If I change this to full screen it hold only for the duration of the game session,. I can not find any method to make this stick to full screen over restarts.

Whatever improvements you've intended with the mentioned hiccups they have contributed to more hand movements and ergonomic challenges.
