Tutorial and story"mode"
Hello,

sorry if this question was somehow answered, but I could not find a fitting answer myself so I hope some of you could help me out:

I am new to the game and enjoy it a lot.
I "like" to restart a few times when I find that I go to fast, or just found something out that I should have know etc. ( a lot of reasons).

But when I start a new game I get the option to NOT play the tutorial, which, after a few restarts, sounds very atractive ;)

But it is not entirely clear to me if the "tutorial" is also the storymode itself, or that I just skip the first few steps to the point I get to the Nexus or Anomaly (the hub where players can meet).
because I sort of want to finish the story, but don't want to replay all those first steps.

I hope my "question(s)" is/are a bit clear;

Is the tutorial also the storymode?
Or can I start a new game without the tutorial but still play and finish the story?

Thank you in advance again!

Simple answer is yes, you have access to the blueprints to fix your first star ship, when in space you can summon the Anomaly straight away.

What you do then is up to you.

Wonderful, thank you very much for the clear and to the point answer.

Choosing creative mode is a nice way to play as well, things are...easier. With so many galaxies to visit, it makes things go so much smoother; no getting the final ingredient, flying to the source, and realizing you sold the first ingredient to a vendor, and you must go back; but you can't because you just about out of... anyway, much smoother. Space Travels!

Aye I was aware of that mode too.
But I want to finish the story at some point.
After that I probably will be a lot in creative mode I think....I love smooth....or...well let's keep it on smooth games hehe.
Thanks for the tip though!

Very nice community!

I made this not too long ago, some replies are also good to read, if you want to.

You can alter difficulty settings in any mode now, depending on your mood. The default mode will always be the mode you initially chose. For example in Normal Mode you could disable damage, perhaps if you found a nice location to build but the environment is so hostile, it becomes irritating to concentrate on building. Of course if you like the challenge for a small build, alter nothing. If you enjoy building you do not have to switch to Creative Mode and visit the same location. Bases are now able to be seen by other players across different modes.

Alternatively playing in Creative mode, you could alter difficulty settings to make things more challenging, however the default game will always be Creative. Story Mode is still a thing in Creative Mode.

In today's game it's your choice on how you set up play. The only mode which is often 'controlled' is Expedition Mode which might be thought of as a challenge mode as everyone starts out with a similar setting that is restricted in what can be customised, for the duration of the event. That though is the fun part. : D

aaaah yes, I see now I failed to understand that ths story is also in creative mode.
I understood that it was soley for building without restriction and distractions.
Another piece of very useful information!

Thank you!:KSmiley:
