2. Fly up to any freighter fleet. Hover over its cargo holds. You want the 4 most expensive illegal items - First Spawn Relics, Banned Weapons, Counterfeit Circuits, Grah Grah. Ignore the other items - they are not worth it. Shoot the pods. Rinse/repeat until your inventory is full with stacks of those. Every time you pulse there's going to be 2 new freighter fleets for you to raid. There's an exploit where shooting pods with a rocket launcher doesn't trigger freighter turrets. Shooting the freighter itself has no consequences, shooting free-floating cargo pods decreases your standing with that system's dominant race. But true pirates don't care about that and wear their negative 200+ standing with pride )
3. Warp to a non-outlaw system. Sell the goods at a large markup. You should be getting 50-70+ mil per run. Selling is the cheesy, undercooked part. You can fly straight into a space station in 5 seconds, before the sentinel police has any chance to scan you. You can also warp in on your freighter and sell the stuff on the freighter terminal, thus avoiding any risk at all. If you want more adrenaline, make it a habit to sell on the planet surface (economy scanner for a trading post). That way you at least give sentinels an opportunity to do their job. There's a Cargo Scan Deflector tech that has a non-100% chance to block their scan.
Shooting pods is a somewhat grindy, but pretty meditative activity. You can alternate it with killing bountied pirates that will spawn nearby and roleplay it as taking out competition. Those guys are basically money bags flying around.
Thank you very much, Photographer.
