You can have up to six multi tools at once so you can experiment with different load outs.
Yes, that's exactly my thinking. When I do get into a combat situation, cycling through the various MT attachments frustrates me, especially when I accidentally cycle past the one I want and then I have to go through the whole thing again. I'm figuring if I just have one weapon, it will make life easier, especially since the projectile ones seem redundant.
I've thought of the multiple MT thing. I don't currently know how you switch between them, though, so I should probably figure that out and maybe try that out, too...
You can switch MTs in the quick menu (press X).
I don't think I have the Paralysis Mortar yet, but when I do, I will keep your advice in mind, thank you!
NO, never....
For a simple reason: supercharged slots.
If you want the best mining laser, you need use all the supercharged slots for the mining laser and his modules.
Same goes for best neutron canon, best boltcaster, pusle spitter (not spliter.... spitter), plasma launcher, etc....
But there's only 4 supercharged slots at best (S-rank), and the basic of maxing any weapon is the tech itself and his 3 upgrade modules. Totaling 4 slots.
So you cant maximize more than 1 tech on a multi-tool.
It's especially important if you dont like combat, and so want it to be done with asap when you feel compelled to fight.
Since you can shortcut each multi-tool to a key (on K&M at least... not sure for gamepad), make one multi-tool for
- Mining. A pistol, couple it with the invisiblity module,
- Shooting at things. Any single target weapon of your choice, on a sentinel or alien MT. Couple it with the paralysis mortar to max your damage and control.
- Nuking things. A long range weapon with AOE effect like the P.launcher (difficult to max out, you must avoid modules giving it bounce potentialand focus on P.speed, AOE and damages) or the neutron cannon (safe, easier to max out, work ats point blank without killing yourself), also on a sentinel or alien MT. Coupled with a paralysis mortar again, and make sure to paralize before shooting (from a safe distance) with the P;launcher
Shortcut each of them to a key so you can swap quickly in combat.
Also it's faster to swap between several multi-tool than change between several weapons on a single multi-tool.
I use a separate multi-tool for different tasks. I have a exotic for scanning, a pistol for mining and a alien tool for fighting.
i just use only 2 weapons 1 main (blaze javelin = the stun/dmg one that use carbon) and 1 secondary (plasma grenade)
