Core & edge of No man's sky Galaxy

This is the core. Nothing ...

Has anyone been to the edge of the galaxy ? Hope to see some pictures of it.

These 2 areas always give me an empty feeling... The boundary of the void...

have you tried to fly to the core, yet?

I am still about 2300 LY to the galaxy closest to the core. That's not to mention an endless expanse of space to the core that my ship can't reach, I don't know if high level players' ships can travel, currently the maximum distance I have can jump only about 870 LY.

Hopefully someone who has been playing for a long time can show us what's in the core or edge of the galaxy.

The edge doesn't look any different that the rest of the galaxy. Stars are everywhere. You just reach a point to where you can no longer select them.

I wonder how the inhabitants of the planet located at the edge of the galaxy and the nearest place to the core feel...

Will technology or luck be better near the core than at the edge?

If we have a portal, we can travel 700000 LY in just a few seconds. LOL it's unbelievable...

Anyway, these 2 places always make me feel very special.

The sad thing about this is that before the PRISMS update the stars in the skybox used to be accurate to the ones seen in the map, like elite dangerous. You could go to the center or edge of the galaxy and see darkness in half the skybox. If mods changed the star placement in the galaxy then you could see it reflected in the skybox.

But when they decided to make it look pretty in PRISMS they started just faking the background completely, you can't even see constellations anymore like you used to.

3 years ago I jumped a heavily modified Hauler "the Dawn Horizon" to the edge of Euclid - about 3 o'clock Rim-ward. Visually its similar to the core. 350,000 Ly traveled at 2000-ish per jump. It was fun, and worth the run. As far as new geologic features and creatures, you see new things in every new galaxy you go. My path so far has been Euclid - Budullangr - Kikolgallr and currently Eltiensleen. Safe travels!

More weird planets... I'm actually at the very edge of Muhakshonto searching for a good planet where to make my "Muhakshonto last stop" before jumping to the next one.
There's way more weird planets at the edge, like half anomalous ones (they have both normal and anomalous rocks, plants or fauna) and usually very weird colors (e.g.: silvergrass) they make nice "last stop" planets....
Right now I'm in a system that has such a weird half anomalous planet, with fushia grass that turns blue at night. The system itself is kinda weird too, it has 2 planets with corrupt sentinels next to each other... the first one is a lifeless planet (so no fauna nor plants which make fighting sentinel on it or hunting for inverted mirror extremely easier), the second one is a cactus biome....
So when you kill enough senitnel on the lifeless one, you're sent to the other planet for the dissonance pike "reward".... probably gonna set my last stop here.....

For jumping to the core, I eard you can do that with your freighter now (?), I didnt try yet but if this work it will probably be the best method (that way you can jump galaxy with a broken ship and so have nothing to repair once in the other side).

Are you sure? I have a save where I randomly ended up way out and reached an area that had void like the core. I don't know how to tell if I'm actually at the edge, but it sure seems like it. I'll have to see if I can find that.

At 2300 LY from the center, you are probably only 3 or 4 jumps from a terminal star system. Those are the star systems you can jump to the core from, as not all star systems surrounding the core will let you jump. Fastest way to one is just to use the galaxy map and run through the mission filters until you get to the galactic core path which will point you to one of those systems.

Also, you don't need any hyperdrive range at all to jump from a terminal star system to the core. None at all, no upgrades, nothing. You could even have the lowest unupgraded range of 101 LY and easily jump to the core. The only requirement for jumping to the core is a full hyperdrive fuel tank.... the bar must be full. Just be sure to pack all your tech away so nothing important breaks when you make the jump.

Using free explore I started going down to see how deep the galaxy went, and it goes a lot deeper than you would expect, but once you reach the edge you simply stop seeing starts, everything is empty after the edge.

Now that you mention it, I guess you could say there are 2 edges to a galaxy... The edge I mentioned where you can no longer select stars, or if you keep on going past that point you will reach another edge where there is no more stars. No way to actually travel there. You can only see it in the galaxy map.

the galaxies in no man's sky are inside a donut, every galaxy has an entry-exit point with the previous and next galaxy, and two random exit curvature points to 2 nearby galaxies.....you just have to play and search to find them.
