massive pop ins
As above. I'm getting pretty annoying pop-ins when traversing planets. Plants, stone formations, it doesn't matter. Sometimes stuff even spawns five meters in front of my face and despawns when I make a step back.

I'm playing on ultra and used mods a year or two back. But I've reinstalled the game and started a new save just to make sure it goes smoothly. Anyone with the same problem? I like the game but I will definitely not play the game like this. It just ruins the immersion on a level I've rarely seen before.

Can you post some Screen Shots of what you are seeing?

Sure. Let's hope I get it to work.

it seems that it's specific models that are cursed by this super low view range. But even if it would be just those stones you REALLY notice when playing the game and every few seconds something appears like you're inside a magician show.

are you running any mods at present?

Not that I know of. THAT means I've uninstalled it a long while ago and just recently reinstalled it before also starting a new save. I've never got into modding too much back then so I'm not really proficient with it. Could it be that even after uninstalling the game, the mods persisted? And if something like that can happen, how do I check it? Where are mods normally placed? Or how do I absolutely nuke NMS and all of it's mods from my hard drive to create a clean slate?

judging by your reaction the pop-in problem most likely isn't normal so it has to be a problem on my end.

Uninstall it again but this time go into your Steam folder, Steam apps, common folder.
Check that after the uninstall the No Mans Sky folder has been uninstalled fully, if not then delete it.
Then go into Documents, see if you have a folder called My Games, check that there's no folder for No Mans Sky there as well, if so delete it.
I've often found that these folders remain after uninstalling a game.
Once that's done, run windows disk clean app, that clears any temp files, restart pc, then reinstall and see if the problem is cured

Also, if you are running on Ultra (at least in my case... I am running an RX5700 card), I had to turn on V-Sync (which I have heard people say you need to turn on, even if you have G-Sync) and I increased my on foot and ship camera angle to 100 degrees, turned off Vignette and Scan lines. Bang, no more disappearing terrain.
Just some things to try if you still have problems. I hope it works out!

to find the mods folder go to where you have steam installed...on mine it's e:\Steam
so my mods folder is
e:\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS\
you can disable mods by having the disablemods.txt file in pcbanks
but as you've not played in awhile any mods you have will likely be out-dated so make sure to remove/delete everything inside the mods folder

You'd know :steamhappy: There's a very impressive "mod warning" screen to get past by hitting any key to get to the "select save" screen.

LOD pop-ins happen because your system cannot stream the textures fast enough.

Reducing the graphics settings will help. Getting faster hardware would help.

Tweaking / optimizing your existing hardware might help a little. (Defrag your hard drive, if the game is installed on an old spinning rust drive. Make sure your BIOS is using XMP or AMD's equivalent. Make sure your drivers are updated.)
