My thoughts on sentinel equipment....
I kinda feel like sentinel ships are way too easy to get for how ludicrously powerful they are.

The tools are mighty-fine, though. They require a bit of work, and once you obtain one, you need some resources to actually fix it up.

I'm thinking the sentinel ships need to have damaged parts on them like the tools do, because getting a free, ready-to-go ship that's worth at minimum 45 million at the scrapyard is just a wee bit OP for how easy it is to get one.

I'm thinking at the very least, it should have a similar number of damaged parts, and require mostly sentinel stuff to repair, just like the tools have.

Weird, I see the opposite, sort of. The Sentinel ships are fairly easy to get once you survive a five wave battle with sentinels (either ships in space or on the ground), but once fully upgraded, they aren't much better than say a fully upgraded exotic which, if you are lucky, might just fly right in and land next to you in a space station.
The sentinel multitools, however, are easily the best weapon in the game, and you are guaranteed to get one with an Echo Locator.

That fricken Sentinel Cannon is ludicrously OP. It can fire for almost a minute straight without overheating, and the DPS on a fully upgraded one is just bonkers. The fact that its hyperdrive is refueled fully by one radiant shard is just LOL, and right out of the box, you get 10 warps per 1 shard, without hyperdrive upgrades. Oh, and it has a default range of 450 ly which is ludicrous. I put just One S-rank on mine and it has 920-ish ly range.

It also starts with a pretty hefty load of empty slots, requires no repairs, and has the unique ability to hover in atmosphere.

And 5 waves of sentinels? I did that on the stock Utopia Speeder. It's not that hard. I will admit I blew about 400 sodium in recharges though.

Oh, and I did the 5 waves of sentinels on foot with just a boltcaster (on an A-rank pistol) and 3 s-rank exosuit shield/health upgrades, and I think one or two movement upgrades, pretty easily.

I said a comparison of fully upgraded ships. Yes, empty of upgrades, the sentinel starts off better than other ships, but its bonus multipliers suck doodoo (except maneuverability), so as you put in upgrades into both ships (Sentinel/exotic) it becomes no so great. Radiant shards only come from Dissonant planets. Warp cores come from every planet. (I have yet to put a shard in the hyper drive of my sentinel ships, because I have stacks of hyper cores in my freighter, so I just click and load.) I did say that the five wave battles weren't that hard, but an exotic can come into a SS and land next to you. Can't get easier than that.
Sentinel ships are great, but thinking they are the best ship in the game stat wise is a stretch imo. I'll still take a fully upgraded explorer if I'm after maximum travel distance. I'll still take a fully upgraded fighter if I want maximum fire power. I'll still take a fully upgraded hauler if I want maximum storage. But that's just me.

I think the most OP thing about them is their value. Considering you don't buy them, ever, that very very high value is nothing but a money printing machine for players.

Of course, the game is just filled with money printing machines already, even without the Interceptors, so it's in balance with the whole rest of the game....

I love the new ships, I have switched to them as my primary ship on all of my saves (except my newest one). But I don't like them because they are particularly superior to my other ships....I like them because they are new, and shiny.
....and the transformer-style wing thing that some of the models do is way more fun to watch than any other ship model animations in the game.

It is harder than sitting on an Tier 3 outpost and reloading saves for that S-Class ship you want.
Interceptor hunting is a lot more 'harder', at least so far it seems to find that one you really like.

I am not including shortcuts like the repositories at NMS Coordinate Exchange and similar.
I mean real, 'analog' old fashion ship hunting.

Yep, agree.
The money thing is ... not a thing in this game after ten hours in, if you have played the game a bit before.

So, the hunting for that special one is what gets me going now :)

This^ is why I love Sentinel ships!
It requires real ship hunting, active hunting, and it takes time. (getting an S-class tho #*$&!)
