No Man's sky VR on meta quest 2 buggy
Does anyone know how to fix no man's sky VR ?🤔💭💭 All it does for me when I try to load in is it'll stutter the hourglass ⏳ symbol will come, it'll freeze as well 😒. So far I've tried updating the drivers on my Nvidia RTX 2060, I've also updated the game, I went into graphics in my PC settings and made it a priority. Yet still nothing 😒 it's still stutters, freezes, loads and just repeats those things. I checked my link cable as well on my meta quest 2. Please 🙏🏼 help.

Unfortunately No Man's Sky in VR needs a lot of CPU and GPU power to run on a PC. But it works if you can adjust the setting accordingly.

I would recommend to start with setting all graphics settings to the lowest possible in the Meta PC software (lowest resolution at 72Hz).

Then start the game and in the main menu open the options and graphics settings. Set everything to Standard (lowest) and on a RTX 2060 use DLSS Performance mode.

If this works, try to incease the settings in steps and start with Quest 2 resolution.

Your CPU needs to be at least on a Ryzen 5 3600 level.

I do play NMS using Virtual Desktop on different systems and the lowest is a RTX 3070Laptop 8GB / Ryzen 5800H. On this system i can only use SSW (Virtual Desktop Frame Generation mode) to get a working performance of 72fps. But also on my RTX 3070 / 8GB with Ryzen 9 3900X i need to use SSW too.

How are you connecting the Quest 2 to the PC are you using a 3rd party usb cord? Using the wireless feature to connect to the PC or an app? I use Virtual desktop to connect mine to the PC because using the Quest 2 one never game me decent performance.

now i found the oculus airlink works better for me than using virtual desktop .
Im on an AMD 5900x , 32gig of 3600mhz ram and a 4090 graphics card.
Some say VD work better for them , others say airlink works better for them ...try both if i was you

The reason is simple, No man's sky in VR requires a lot of VRAM, with 6gb of your 2060 it's already a challenge to run it on a native VR headset alone, if you're using the quest it's even more layers of challenge and will demand even more VRAM, a simple test would be when you launch the game open task manager, performance tab and gpu you'll see the amount of vram used you'll see it saturated.

The only way you can make it work is to significantly reduce the steamvr supersampling resolution you'll not be able to run it at 100%.

i always use 100% STEAM VR resolution, because changing that value causes even more VRAM to be used because of the scaling, even if you lower this down. The best way to reduce VRAM usage is to lower the base render resolution in either Virtual Desktop or the Meta Software and definitely use DLSS. With 8GB of VRAM i can use the maximum render resolution of 3120x3120 pixels per Eye on Pico 4 and DLSS set to Performance while having everything set on ENHANCED in the game (but disabling terrain tesselation). Although on the Pico 4 i always have 7.8 GB used, which could cause some issues in some situations. On the Quest 2 the maximum resolution is a bit lower, so it should run a bit better.

Using my RTX 3060 with 12Gb i can set texture details in the game to ULTRA and this is why any GPU with less than 12GB is sub-optimal.

i also use a quest 2 to play nms, with virtual desktop (feels better than airlink).
i have a 2070.
SSW and DLSS is mandatory (ssw splits your real fps in half and create fake frames using IA, which means it improves performances, just like DLSS technology. ) if you want to play nsm in VR, both will improve your performances.
sadly, having a good GPU is not enough, you also need a good CPU and RAM to run games that uses procedural generation. i have an i7 10th gen and it's enough to have good frames.
maybe you need to lower your graphics ingame
