It's up to you. The game is a sandbox where the only thing it matters is what you want to do.
Personally, staying in a single planet or system is entirely pointless.

You have an entire galaxy as your playground, and you want to stay home?

It's nice to have a primary base to come back to, but ultimately you will want to move on. A single system isn't holding all the resources in the game so there's a lot of things you won't be able to craft, and the game is also very much about exploring.
You can instantly warp back to your base using the teleporter found in any trade station, as long as your base has a powered warp portal.

I really suggest you get out and explore, there's a lot of beautiful things to see out there.

You would like to have a main base of course, where to store your stuff and to come back after a long trip through the stars. If you're a new player, just set a basic base on that planet that you like. Eventually, you'll find a better planet to move on, either because it have the resources you want the most, or because it have that perfect view that you were looking for. At the end, you decides how you want to play and what you want to do. Me personally, I have my main shack to place my stuff, but I'm always jumping between systems doing missions and exploring the universe.

After all, the game is (not mainly, I think) about exploration.

at start if i find excellent planet for farming certain things to unlock tech fast then i might stop to do some farming
but building base is not needed , maybe just for those quests to unlock some things.

last base i did for quest was on trade port landing pad :steammocking:

actually it was perfect place as farmer want you to collect some plants and plant those, so you can buy all those from passing trader ships when you visit enough of those.

first you can find a base planet as your main base in the galaxy in case you want to go back to said galaxy after a long travel to other galaxies otherwise going back to your first galaxy will be a problem later on.
I personally build atleast a small base in every galaxy i ever stepped in and i really only use freighter as my main base cause it's too convenience to travel around and everything you do just summon freighter so u can access everything in your freighter instead going back and forth to your planet bases.

Make a good base in Euclid, and then get to Eissentam for that hunt for that perfect paradise planet to build a base on.
Or Just stay in Euclid :)

Personally just found a nice calm planet to place my base on and warp back to when I want to relax and/or sort things out. Otherwise exploration is pretty much what I like to do. Coming across weird things is always neat and I doubt I've seen everything yet.
