Tedious Multitool Hunting
Hi all,

I’d really like to find A class experimental and alien multitools. I can always grind and upgrade the class with hard earned nanites, so class isn’t a big issue for me, it’s just finding a damn tool I actually like… I’ve been watching a lot of videos explaining techniques and reloading save points to activate different multitool pools. When I land on a planet, reload the save and fly back to the space station, I see a new/different multitool representing the planet I was just on… Can I land on the same planet multiple times, reload, then fly back to the ss to see a different multitool from that same planets’ pool? This stuff is so complicated, just putting it out there for anyone as interested as I am as well. I would appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance!

A google search should give a Picture with Glyphs to get to it, and Planet Coordinates...
I found an Alien S Class that way.

I got a question. Whats the difference ?
If you have a S fully slotted multi-tool.
Is there a difference between one and the other ? If they are both S class what does one have to offer that another doesnt ?

Wiki fandom will explain all the differences between MT styles to you. Just know that if you max everything out it matters not what you have, it will be OP as hell.

The MT hunt is a mini-game you can play in NMS. Some of us like the hunt, even if it's just the hunt on reddit (depending on my mood) to find just the right tool. The new ones, the autophage staves and interceptor ones plus the newest ones you get at the Korvax sites are pretty fun too and slightly different yet again in looks if nothing else. Bling is important.

Yea not so much for me.
I went forever with barely any life support mods.
I got a A class multi tool its got more than enough slots for what I need.
I'm sure a S class maxed out with tech is really quick.

I really only use it for minebeam, scatter blaster and terrain editor anyways.

MT hunting is easy but involves a lot of time, you can shortcut this by using a known MT shared by others.
the 2 most important things to remember when going for a 'published' MT (or ship) are...

1) always follow the instructions given by the finder to the letter
2) always have MP disabled in network settings BEFORE you go to the system

regarding (1) this is cos sometimes you need to switch the MT that shows up in the cabinet, this is done by 'save and reload' either on the space station or one of the planets in the system, where to reload to force a particular MT into a particular cabinet has already been worked out by the player who shared the 'find'.... all you need to do is follow their instructions

good hunting:steamhappy:

"S" class will likely have 4 supercharged slots, and higher default stats (Damage, etc)

Type dictates stats as the wiki shows. But it's a time sink trying to min max a multitool. Just get one that looks good to you visually. As someone mentioned you'll be OP as hell anyways. But certainly if you like the hunt go for it. Was too tedious for me so settled for this which i prefer over my staves. And rifle is not the highest damage. It's about 13% below the best. But i murder everything.

1. supercharged slots can be in different positions (though I'm pretty sure this is only the case if you get them from different locations)
2. different MT types have different bonuses... sentinel/rifles boost damage, royals boost scanning, etc.
3. sentinel, atlantid and atlas scepter can have 2 core mining beam modules, which massively reduces their overheat rate

The differences aren't all that important though... once you have good S or X class upgrades, any MT will be powerful enough anyway

I guess I’ll just play the game and take what I like, multitool hunting is way too difficult. If I find an experimental tool I’ll just grind to upgrade the class. Finding my own tools, no matter which ones, is way more unique and special than using glyphs to get one.
