Tweaked the device with these options off and it diminished the symptoms from ramping effects coming from:
Dull rumble from the Minotaur's Flame Thrower,
Having the Multitool's Cloaking Device Installed,
The Sound FX slider 26%; Music sliders 44% adjusted respectively.
https://ibb.co/r3vqNbf
and volume on windows set to 100%
This, and the foreknowledge that the Freighter Doors are hit and miss keeping my on my toes.
Desert winds are reduced somewhat.
Good luck.
Edit:
Staves Multitools have the "Runic Lens" a cloaking device, also a source of the ramping audio sound field.
EDIT: The bubbling sound has been fixed. https://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/0/6741412150961913642/
"Fixed a bug where swimming sounds would not stop."
My settings are similar to P Stones. Need to hear some ambient sounds but just not so much and the rumblings since the last few patches is a bit overdone imho.
Hold your RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON, I bet any money you have some CLOAKING DEVICE or SHIELD, that goes into perpetual Sound Mode whenever you use the right mouse button to exit a Menu.
I usually don't notice it much but if I am still and just looking around, it can become an annoying sound. Hanging out on volcanic worlds also gives that rumble effect...but kind of obvious what is causing that. Get out of Dodge if you don't like it.
On rare occasion, large pets or the minotaur might be the cause.
If you can't figure out the cause...it could be your settings are jacked.
It's not the refiner, it's not bubbling, it's not planetary effects, it's not the cloaking device, it's an "on-purpose," in the game, ambient sound that the devs have programmed as a low background noise. OP is correct.
yeah, i think you're right. i tried spamming right click in my menus to see if i could activate the cloak, but after about five minutes of trying that it didn't get anything stuck or even activate the cloak once from inside a menu. i tried hitting the cloak normally and that's not the same sound; i tried stepping up to a portal and it's a similar sound but it's not that either, and i'm definitely not using a backpack refiner or swimming underwater
just ended up turning my sound down, imo the sound design in this game is ass, especially since nobody at HG knows how to use an equalizer. sean should totally hire me to be an executive sound designer for NMS
After about 5 hours of searching the webs for answers, I realized my computer auto-installed the latest Windows 11 update 24H2 earlier today. So, I went into my settings and choose to roll back to 23H2 update. My beeping stopped and my Runic Lens cloaking sound was no longer happening.
Hope this sheds some insight onto others issues as well.
The problem IS the RUNIC LENS.
If you quickly hit your Right Mouse Button (or the equivalent of whatever it is on your Controller), it starts up the CLOAKING SOUND, and doesn't go away, unless you hit the Right Mouse Button (or the controller equivalent) again.
If you tap the RMB, it will activate the cloaking device for just a second, and the sound will play infinitely until you hold RMB down for at least a second or two and let go.
Very highly annoying, wish they'd fix this stupid bug already. Or maybe give us a different button to use for that, that we don't use for anything else.
OR, give us the option to make the cloaking device a toggle rather than a hold.
That freighter landing being 400% louder than anything else is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. Especially since it's not even a good sound effect. It would be slightly more in place for a dying dinosaur than it is as a hanger door opening. Even then it could be somewhat excused if it wasn't so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loud compared to every other sound in the entire game.
I'm not even running it through the sound system, just a cheap $20 pair of Wallyworld speakers & it's still so, so bad.
And fact is, when you land, it isn't ALWAYS that loud, but only sometimes.
I'm convinced it's a bug and not intended. Just like the obnoxious cloaking device glitch.
