Is there a fix for the "unable to download base" issue?
I remember this being a minor problem a good few years ago on PlayStation back when i first played.
I'm trying to visit those farms people make to save time getting materials as its SO SO LONG starting again given there's no cross saves. but every time i go to pick a base it just says "unable to download base" literally every time i click on someone's base. no matter which base it is i always get the same result.
it wasn't particularly common on PlayStation if i remember correctly. but on PC its on every base. on PS i got around it by having my friend try to load into the base and then i would join him in multiplayer.

is there a way around it that works consistently?

i just want to speed up the early game as its so incredibly tedious starting from scratch

To download your own base you have to set the computer down, check that it is clear, set down at least 15 build pieces and then go back to compy and rename base (or not but why not use a name that is meaningful) then download your base. With too few pieces it is not downloadable to the public. It's still there for you but not viewable by others.

The listing convention is iirc Settlement, freighter, your bases oldest to newest, other bases from oldest to newest then Space Stations from most recent visited to oldest. On expedition saves iirc your stations for the 5 drop zones will always stay visible, at least mine have on the exp saves I have kept from the past.

Staying out of MP will make your life easier and bases are still there to mooch off of.

As for not being able to download others bases (only at the anomaly for me) that just means that the base owners have left the game but NMS hasn't reloaded/updated the list. This happens a lot. There are so few materials needed for this expedition it's really not an issue but if you really want free mats it's best to be out in space and just look around till you find a base named something that looks helpful. "Joes Resource Store". :steamhappy:

Something to remember is if you save your base, add a bunch more stuff and forget to update your base at the computer then those items will be invisible to anyone else. Most issues with bases are just not understanding how the process works or expecting things that aren't reasonable like wanting the game to update anomaly lists every minute or two. Man would that mess up the game. Those poor little hamsters would be exhausted, all that work...
