Hows the multiplayer?

Sup Everyone,

Since the new ship patch and other new content, I was looking to jump into NMS. I like to consider myself new to the community and would like to find some like minded people to campaign with.

Is the Multiplayer experience good? Because I definitely want to jump back into NMS

MP exists, that's pretty much the only thing you can say about it.

No Man's Sky is most definitely not a game to buy if a good multiplayer experience is your primary interest. it's janky and a lot of things don't sync.

It's a great game which I really enjoy, but I don't think even the biggest fans of the game would ever recommend it for the multiplayer aspect.

There really is no campaign. The multiplayer is basic.

I have great fun on multiplayer, you get some interaction with other players *eventually* and more often than not they're a gag, good people.
But you'll find out most activities are focused on solo playing anyway.

If you have friends you play with, it's a blast. Expeditions are insanely fun to leave MP on (just don't forget to turn PvP off unless you're into it).
And to top it off, this last update seems to have really stabilized MP for a lot of people who were having trouble with it - although as per usual, there are some that say it is worse. Like every update.
My wife and I play together all the time - my nephew joins in a couple times a week, and on occasion my wife's D&D group all login and we will gather together on a derelict freighter, sweep it clean, start a countdown, everyone runs and hides, then we use it as a PvP arena in space! :)

Unless there's an expedition on or you are actively playing with friends, multiplayer seems to be more of a theoretical thing. I think I've encountered another player once outside an expedition or a specific quest, and two total. Pretty sure the other guy was camping on a quest local and killing people. Was annoying, really.
