Sentinel Pillars
New to this game, Sentinels can be a pain in the pass sometimes, can't loot stuff, while they can be easily dealt with, I recently came across "Sentinel pillars" where you can deactivate security. I have two questions,
1. Does deactivating single pillar brings down whole network of sentinels in the planet?
2. Whats the efficient way to find sentinel pillars?

1. Yes
2. Sentinel Pillar Maps

Be aware the effect is temporary. If you leave the system (maybe the planet) or teleport to another location things get reset. Bonus: You can seek and find storage farms and other POIs that have regular sentinel patrols and pick up the barrels they dropped when they died.

I have a tiny base at one on the extreme sentinel planet I also have a settlement. Even so, it is a PITA. Just don't pick a settlement on an extreme sentinel planet.
a pillar brings down the whole planet while you are on it. If you leave the planet including logging out the sent's reset.
Theres two times I set up a base at a sentinal pillar. 1) if theres something I really really want to farm on that planet and its got aggressive sents
2) on dissonant planets that has a model interceptor worth having. Disabling sents at the pillar there will kill all the corrupted sents on the planet and let you harvest crystalized hearts, inverted mirrors, ect completely unmolested.
If the sentinal pillar is part of a mission you will have to destroy the three nodes and possibly draw away the sentinals, or kill the prescribed amount AND draw them away to activate the shutdown. otherwise if its not a mission I fly my corvette right over the top of it and drop down onto the roof, then with cloak on I drop to the control panel and turn em off. easy peasy
Pillar locations can be marked by defeating all 5 waves of ground Sentinels on non-dissonant planets. You can also find them using some Nexus/Corvette missions. The easiest way is to use a Sentinel Boundary Map. Maps can drop in combat supplies barrels dropped by sentinels, buried caches, or from Salvage Containers on Salvageable Scrap planets.

Sentinel amnesty will last on that specific planet for as long as you remain in that solar system or reload a save. You can freely use teleports within that system e.g. from base to station to freighter etc. For the duration of the amnesty, any sentinel scripted to spawn will instantly self-destruct. This includes guards at resource depots, operations facilities, other pillars, dissonant resonators etc.

Placing a base computer or save beacon at the pillar allows you to deactivate them each time you need to return to that planet.

As of now, that's by far the easiest and simplest way to get them.

And shoot at containers with your ship's weapons, not the MT.
There is no good way to verify this, but I am under the clear impression that flight-based salvaging may give more loot, sometimes even significantly so.
Thanks for an elaborate and clear answers folks.
Use the map scanner for Pillars. Can get that at any cartographer. Then put a save point or even a base at the pillars for easy travel.
You can also farm Sentinels at the pillars before hitting the button.

Do you play a modded game? I'm fairly certain the sentinel pillar maps are not sold by the cartographer in the core, unmodded game. Unless they added them quite recently; I don't visit the cartographer often.

No. Well not until yesterday when i tried some "compilation" pack.
And yes, it is not the cartographer, my bad. Mercenary guild should sell some.
Salvaged glass often hold sentinel boundary map too. I ahve farmed quit alot of maps and glass just shutting down pillar, you get one or two purple containers. then also travel around the planet opening containers (you get a message about sentinels defeated or something like that when near where they where patrolling).
Ah, yes. Mercenary guild can sell them. Though it's not guaranteed (varies by station). That is indeed unmodded behaviour.
Sentinel boundary maps also are in the mix of items you get when salvaging for Corvette parts. I picked up five of these along with lots of Corvette parts on a recent run.

Right? You get at least half stack from just one run of filling your vette up with spare parts, depending on settings
Maps, Ferrite, and the archeology pieces the exploration guild likes

Yup, I ended up with FIVE of the maps just scrounging for Corvette parts.
