As for what's next for this game, nobody knows, maybe not even Hello Games.
The anniversary trailer shown at The Game Awards included a new space station that us expected this year. That is the only information we have.
The new game will be call Light No Fire. It will be a fantasy RPG on a proc-gen planet at least the size of Earth. Release date is unknown, could be anywhere between tomorrow and some time in 2027.
why would they kill off the cash cow that NMS has been releasing a new game could bomb or me a massive success.
but until more information is released on how its going to work and for me its multiplayer would need to radical change from whats in NMS.
Now that they have to allocate staff between two games-with Light No Fire probably coming out late this year- I am not sure we should even expect what we have seen in the past.
They obviously believe there are some more sales out there for NMS, so I would guess we can expect Expeditions (either re-runs or new content) and there appears to be a story line developing. Disclaimer: We also thought the Nutrition and Settlement updates were going somewhere and that never materialized.
The only thing we know is there appears to be a new space station design and they have not said they plan to discontinue active development for the game. Naming the last Expedition update Omega is concerning.
I've also head others express concerns over the name Omega.
But shoot... there's the "She" we have not yet encountered... I just look at the game as a huge opportunity to do so much more. I hope they do :-)
