Stupid question about Sentinel ships
Can they be gotten in saves that were started before the expedition? I did the expedition on another slot, but my long term game (about 350 hours) is where I focus my real effort, can I get one in it?

Absolutely. Just find the nearest Dissonant system (as indicated in the galaxy map) and farm the location on the planet with a sentinel level of Corrupted.

How common are they? I bounced around a bit but didn't see any. And thank you for the answer!

All planets with corrupted sentinels have interceptor ships present. Each planet will have multiple crash sites. Due note that there is only one model per planet. This means if you find one on a planet, any others on that planet will be identical other than the ship class.

Easier if you have an economy scanner fitted. You'll see them on the hyperdrive map then. Fairly common but not evenly distributed.

Here is a fairly well put together guide about the subject:

One way you can find a guaranteed dissonant system is with a dreadnought ai. They’re guaranteed drops from enemy sentinel freighters and I think I’ve seen one as an anomaly mission reward before too. I had heard they could drop from frigate missions but I haven’t seen any that way, though I’ve sent out very few frigates since interceptor came out.

Important note on this, not all dissonant planets have interceptors, only inhabited ones do. Exotic and abandoned/lifeless planets or planets in abandoned/uncharted systems will not have interceptors. Using consumables that direct you to corrupted sentinel PoIs will either fail or send you to the galaxy map if used in those situations.

Thank you all!

If it helps, all saves from any time period have access to all content releases. The developers make certain that the saves retroactively have the new ♥♥♥♥ applied to it. In cases of VERY old saves, sometimes that means a planet that was once pretty is now an ocean... But in all cases, any new content that's added is available to anyone from any save.

Expeditions offer new incentives to make new saves to experience something new and fresh, but aside from the expedition-specific stuff that goes on, they aren't any different than normal saves.
